Who Was In the 38LX Fountain at the GTH on 4/25

Bluefinman,

I’m mostly daydreaming, but if we get an LX in the next few years, you can ride with me anytime, bro. BTW, we have to take the good with the bad–Bechet’s Syndrome is a pretty tough life in itself, but I believe that God will take it away one day (though I probably deserve it).

Tprice,

You brought up an important point. Whoever the guy was in the Gulf who’s insurance didn’t pay due to offshore mileage limits had the WRONG INSURANCE for his boat (if that’s what happened). What a shame. That’s where having the right agent makes a BIG difference (warning–horn tootage). I know of some companies that impose an offshore mileage limit. They are just not the right companies for offshore boats. We NEVER offer any policy with offshore mileage limits to offshore boats–it just doesn’t make sense. Marine insurance companies like Travelers, Ace/Inamar, St. Paul, Zurich, etc. should be used for offshore boats. Last I checked, Progressive had a 50 mile offshore limit. Such can be the case with companies that aren’t primarily marine oriented. We ONLY offer Progressive to inshore creek/river/lake boats (mainly bassboats and an occasional ICW cruiser).

Point blank–if any of you have Progressive Insurance or any other company that normally handles cars, motorcylce, PWC’s, or houses as a mainstream, and you plan to go more than 50 miles offshore in your boat, you’d better READ your policy, and make the necessary changes to a company that fits your requirements and lifestyle.

The mileage limit explanation does sound like the more probable one in that case though, because operator error could not legally keep a claim from being paid for the loss of an insured vessel.

P.S. You’re absolutley right about the trim tab dangers Tprice, which I think is true with any boat, but especially fast ones. In fact, Reggie Fountain is ardent to point out the dangers of overtrimming a Fountain (or any fast boat). My manuals/owner’s videos have always said to never run the boat with the tabs past 5 at the

Gotcha, I’m not disagreeing with you on offshore fishing being hard work. My comment was more about the choice of boat. The boat you fish on greatly will determine how you feel at the end of the day and whether or not you feel like going again in the morning. Fountains in my opinion have a complete lack of practicality. I’ve ridden on two (a 29’ and a 31’) and the ride was absolutely horrible for that much boat.

That, and well,… they’re just cheezy.

Since I’ve only met two; I prefer not to make a blanket judgment of all Fountain owners, but the two I met were…,well…take a guess.

So I can say without a doubt that there are definitely two cheeezzy Fountain owners out there….And after reading comments like this:

quote:
I just wanted to give you my compliments on that hot, sexy boat
quote:
1/3 express bikini-style/family-style yacht, 1/3 speed boat, 1/3 sport fishing boat--and it looks like Angela Everhardt's prettier sister.

Honestly, I'm a sucker for any of these kind of fast, sexy fishing boats (Fountain, Donzi, Wellcraft/Scarab, Contender, Intrepid, Yellowfin, etc.). That 357 Cobra cat looks neat to me too (85+MPH with twins--Woah Nelly!).

I’m guessing there’s a third!

YOURE RIGHT MIGET THAT IS A HOMO BOAT. WHAT KIND OF BOAT DO YOU OWN MIDGET. IMEAN THAT YOU HAVE SPENT YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY TO PAY FOR. YOU HAVE BEEN ACTIVE IN THIS THRED SO WERE WAITING.

I’ve got a 17’flat boat with a 25hp and 9.9hp on the back. The 25 is heavier so I mounted it towards the middle of the transom.

Actually, to be honest I can say I own 1/3 of Glacier Bay 260 w/ Yamaha F-150’s, and pay 1/3 of the insurance, 1/3 of the dry dock, and 1/3 of the maintenance (hasn’t been much yet).

However, you don’t have to own a Ferrari to know that a Kia sucks!

NOW MIGET DONT MAKE FUN OF MY SETUP BECAUSE YOU WERE BORN WITH A SILVERSPOON. ITS WHAT I CAN AFFORD IT WILL WORK IF YOU TINKER WITH IT YOU HAVE TO OVERPROP THE SMALL MOTOR OR IT WILL TURN TO MANY RPMS.

YOU DONT OWN A THIRD OF YOUR CAR D!CKHEAD

Not sure why you brought finances into this thread. Maybe you want sympathy, I don’t know.

But not one cent spent on the GB was given to me.

and I’m not sure what you mean about the car, but I do own my own car and I paid for that too.

What else ya’ got?

dammit, mullet04thewhore. you’ve been run off every forum you’ve been on. venice is calling.

soup is the name. for obvious reasons–not soupy sales.

beat it!!!

i scramble eggs with roe.

Yea it was a sport boat and not a center console.

I am glad you brought up the issue of the mileage. That is exactly what happened with his first boat, the agent did not tell him about the mileage limits(last I heard it was still in litigation). While I do not take my boat out that far I did not know that my coverage was limited to 50 miles until talking with my agent.
He told me if i were going that far to let him know and they could put rider on it for a few weeks.

Like Lee stated you need to check your own policies and be sure. I am from the upstate and they do not think about someone going that far offshore and think 50 mile coverage is more than enough.

Nice flip-flop soup. That’s the angle you wanna take now?

Thanks for the help Steve, but don’t fret it too much. If Midgie wants to call me a redneck, and my boat cheezy, it’s OK with me–really. I think it’s rather funny. If he ever met me, and went for a ride, that would probably change in great measure, but maybe not. I have no need to enter into weenie measuring contest with anyone. I’m secure with who I am, and what I know. And if he doesn’t like Fountains, no problem. We Psychology majors call that “***** envy”. Just poking at you Midgie–whoever you are.

By the way, I do feel the uncontrollable urge to shout “Yeeehaww” somtimes. Maybe you’re right about me. Either way, I forgive you for the unsolicited insults. I really just wanted to start up friendly conversation, meet a friend, and do some business. Sorry guys that it somehow went negative.

Gotcha, I didn’t mean anything too serious and i’m glad you didn’t take it that way.

As for Soup and Steve I’ve learned previously that these guys take themselves and their internet status way too seriously.

But Gotcha, since you brought up “***** envy”; remember you’re the one with the overpriced, go fast boat with the racing stripes. Sounds like someone may be overcompensating.:smiley::smiley:

Midgie, I will kick your ass if you talk to Lee like that again. So Lee, since we are friends now, can you take a look at my policy? I’m thinking that I should get a 15% discount for sticking up for you. I got your back man. I got your back…

Ummmm… Yeah… Ummmm… Lee, about that insurance thing buddy. I think that my payment is going to be a little late this quarter again. But, I know you got me covered man… Your best pal, J…

no midgie–i don’t flip flop-who do you think i am-j f’ing kerry. i was just trying to sarcastically point out that how one gets a boat (maybe even including theft) is of no consequence. i don’t care if hiliary paid for your 1/3 of your cat.you’ll notice that all of the boats that i mentioned, with the exception of the jon boat and the grumman, are capable of leveling a tree.

all of my previous posts were negative about the driver of the boat. can’t call him a captain and i really don’t think he was the owner. from what i hear he made a small deposit and that was it. fountain boats guys are really missing some screws. he went past the colreg line on his first fountain and then proceeded to sink it. apparently, they are still fighting it out in court. i really hope the insurance company wins. i doubt if they will pay for this one. it’s either him or fountain boats.

man, those engines must have really been screaming when they left the water.

awfully glad no one was in the way. i don’t think they have special areas on hartwell marked for playing speed boat video games.

If you ignore him, maybe he will go away…

It’s like dealing with a bee…if you try to swat them they will try to sting you. If you ignore them they buzz around making a lot of racket but nothing else.

I have only entered one post on this board and the “little bee” stung somebody over there. I happen to read this thread and the buzzing sound materialized. Time to leave “little bee” alone to make noise only he enjoys.

Proud new owner of a 31 Fountain CC. Bought it for the speed to the fishing grounds and it’s tough build. Paid cash which I earned by saving my entire life. Frankly, I think the ride is smooth and relaxing.

OK THE POTTED MEAT AND SALTINES ARE ABOUT ADAMS APPLE LEVAL. YOU ARE SOME FLIPFLOPPIN BUT KISSING FAGS.

HERE IT COMES I GOT TO GO FEED THE DOG

let me make this clear.

i’ve dealt with ole midgie before–i don’t care how he got his boat, if he owns a truck, eats sunfish roe, or pulls chains.

i don’t like fountain boats.

IM BACK. SOUP THAT WASNT AT YOU JUST BAD TIMING. THAT WAS FOR MIGET.

THAT DOG DOES LIKE HORMEL

Tprice,

Thanks. Yes, you are right. Sometimes agents may assume that since you’re in the upstate, you might not go more than 50 miles offshore, and others may even assume that you will use your boat exclusively in inland lakes and rivers. I don’t assume that–I ask the customer point blank, which is what every agent is supposed to do.

** Everyone needs to check and make sure, no matter who their agent is, that their policy states “inland and COASTAL navigation” and that it does NOT stipulate an offshore mileage limit if they fish offshore. Even if you don’t expect to go over 50 miles offshore, you might one day. Plus, the companies that don’t limit your offshore mileage tend to be less expensive anyway (more for less, seriously). Keep in mind that “Inland” means FRESHWATER, and “Coastal” means saltwater. If you don’t have something spelled out in the policy, that means you don’t have it. Make sure to call your agent with any specific questions, as I can only speak for my own policies and customers regarding specific policy details; but I’ll be glad to help in any way I can. Feel free to call.

Important: I don’t want to imply or state that the agent for the guy who sunk his Fountain in the Gulf insured, advised, or failed to advise the insured customer improperly, as I don’t know what happened. The guy might have even told his agent that he wouldn’t go past 50 miles (??). Who knows. All I can say is that if the guy had a 50 mile limit, and used the boat more than 50 miles offshore, then he had the wrong policy.

BTW, overall, Fountain owners and other fast fishing boats have been among the lowest claim rates we’ve experienced. It’s a preferred market for us. I would have to agree that the sport speed boats are a different ballgame though. Their sole purpose is speed and babes, and it ain’t good to get distracted at 90 MPH. That’s why they’re so much more expensive to insure–but we do them too.

Wow! This is a trip!

Thanks again.
