In the not too distant future, these same problems will be facing us guys that frequent the Stono river @ the Limehouse boat landing. The county will be opening a ‘passive’ waterfront park across the river from the landing on the other side of the bridge. The park will have a kayak/paddle board launching facility, with rentals, right into the Stono River, next to the ‘redneck riviera’. Now that should be interesting, especially when the big snow bird yachts send their big wakes right into the launching docks!

Yaker’s and paddle boards can be a pain. But no more a PIA than the 200 sail boats in the harbor you have to maneuver through to get through the harbor. We all have a right to the water so lets just get along so bad things don’t happen. Take from someone who was on the wrong side of a boat / inner tube accident on the colorado river. Broken foot, 38 stitches and an infection later.
A wise man once said “Do as I say not as I do” Good advice when I tell you that.
They’re a pain, but at least they’re out and about enjoying Gods great creation. Not just sitting on the couch watching tv getting fat.

You guys reminded me of when I was living on james island. You can keep your paddle boards, small sail boats, and kayaks. Ill keep my muddy water down here.

Its really funny to see someone on a wakeboard or hydroslide lean over and soak the SUP or kayakers with a wall of water. It’s also funny watching someone try and balance on a SUP for a the first time!
I’ll never forget the time I traded some words with the instructor of a kayak class in Bowens Island Creek. I came around the bend to see the instructor holding my crab pot, and showing it to his class. Apparently he was talking about the injustice of them because he proceeded to start to dump out the crabs into the water. Man was I angry

I almost ran over a paddle boarder off the tip of Sullivan’s Island a few years ago. Was coming in from offshore running about 25 knts. He was in the harbor off the Mount Pleasant Range, wearing a yellow shirt as the sun was setting. I didn’t see him–luckily a friend screamed just before impact…I grabbed the wheel with two hands and veered hard.
Hit his board–but he jumped off just in time and wasn’t hurt. Closest I’ve been to killing/seriously injuring someone…very scary…bet he learned a lesson that day though. Thankful it didn’t end up differently.

You guys.
You’re complaining about all the paddle boarders. Have y’all noticed that most of them are hotties wearing bikinis?
I think it’s kinda giggity.
BTW…you are responsible for your wake and that includes plowing by the kayakers and paddle boarders…it only takes a minute or 2 more to idle past them and not swamp them. Besides, idling past gives you more time to enjoy the scenery, if you know what I mean.

There are places in this world where doing that could get you killed or seriously injured.
