I throw a 8 foot and the other night we filled up in 4 passes I don’t take many pic cuz we are in a 16 foot Jon but 40 tosses and having to throw the bait ball back every other net full increases your odds I have seen my brother in law fill a cooler in 8 throws with a 12 foot deephole net just saying
grab the gaff and another cold beer
I don’t think i’ve ever gotten more than 15 or so in a throw… It will happen someday!
why do you assume they’re lying?
our best trip 2 years ago was 3 passes on 9 poles, 27 throws with an 8’ calusa… pushing half gallon per toss.
my best one-poling solo was over 200 shrimp per throw, and they weren’t small.
but this is just internet information, so you don’t have to believe me.

</font id=“quote”></blockquote id=“quote”>that’s jammin right there…I think our best cooler ever was also on 3 passes…think about having a lot of big shrimp around and it can certainly be done quickly…I do miss those good ole days though…
and we throw a 7’ net typically…

we have done that in three passes or less more than once in bulls bay a couple of years ago. it was not that way last year but still one heck of a good time on the water.

That’s just good fishin jargon right there.
Some people just have to exagerate. Last Saturday we were at Cowpens with a lot of boats, catching 4-6 big shrimp per cast. Makes for a long day. This one boat comes over to see what we were doing and they said they were catching 30-40 per cast. You might ask why I doubt that. Well if that were the case they must have had about 150 quarts because they were out there throwing for the same 6-7 hrs that we were.
Rock we were there sat. also. We just waited about 30-45 minutes
between runs.(fishing while waiting) we would get from 2 to 3 doz per cast.
When we didnt wait less than a dozen.
7 Runs = 2/3 cooler shrimp and 32 whiting
Also noticed the size was smaller than the week before. I think the fresh water
Had a hand in the size. Could of been because I set up alittle off of the spot we have
been going to.
Huge numbers happen at times but, not the norm. On the other hand there will always be SOME who always want to look like the best and will BS about it…true or not! I know a couple just like you are talking about whether if fish - ducks - shrimp or what?
Twice I remember I have thrown a 8’ net and it came up looking like it had a tire tube in it. Near 1/4 cooler in one throw. Problem was it didn’t last and continue. Just one hot pole. It was great for the moral on the boat! Once at the banks we had a set where we were getting 4-5" in bottom of the tub per run. In three passes we could have coolered easy - wind got up quick and had whitecaps coming over the transom. With 3" of water in floor and bilge running wide open we pulled poles and bailed. Had close to 2/3 cooler in 1.75 runs. A friend on mine said they had a good night going once and had ONE pole that was smokin!! They were throwning 7 & 8’ nets. They decided to pull out a 12’ net and throw on the hot pole. He swore it took two people to pull the net over the side of the boat. That throw finished a cooler.
Knowing how rare it happens I will make a point to take a picture of it next time it happens. I’m hoping for this Sat morning!! Got to cooler and be back in time of the Tigers game.

We caught them at Victoria Bluff in 15 throws. Set poles, baited up, anchored at last pole, untangled the net made a test throw and covered the bottom of the cooler. Pulled the anchor 15 throws later back to the landing. Total time to and from the landing about two hours. My wife and I were shrimping in muddy bay mid 90’s and filled the cooler with mediums in and hour. Now this was the the thickest I’ve ever seen shrimp first few cast we were getting a dozen or more then a wave of them came through and the hole pocket around the net was loaded wasn’t long at all and we were back home heading for three hours.
See ya on the water/19’ Neptune/115 Johnson.
Back in the mid 90’s, my father and I limited out 5 days in a row in less than three runs in St Helena sound. The sixth day we caught 17 shrimp.

Hahaha…thanks Ricky…older I get the more I sound and talk like my daddy . Donnie was laughing saying…well guess we got to go now…I said uh-uh…forget that…whip pout the duct tape and a roll of line and got busy. Heck…I’ve duct taped the hem to the net before if the hole wasn’t to big. They are right…duct tape does fix everything

And n this subject…I too have coolers out in just a few throws. Nothing like the feel of a machine gun going off in your net as the shrimp hit inside and feeling you are pulling up a car battery when you pull it in! Could flat out give you a heart attack from happiness if you’re not careful
