Will we have a fish kill in 2025? Data thread

Id still stick that Snook, EF.
And you still owe Capt. Joel an apology.

@Vegas_Dave

Well, you are half right I suppose, lol.

Tell you what, get this so called Captain to come in here and speak for himself and I will consider an apology. Really.

If not, sadly he has proven himself to be ( as I said earlier), the fugazzi who tricked you, , and you sir have proven yourself to be struggling with the same level II issues we discussed earlier.

My guess is there is very little hope for ol’ Capt Joel, but I’ve got a better feeling about you in the next few seasons.

We’ll see, I know stuff.

EF

Do we have an updated chart today regarding the current water temps?

IF we have a fish kill and I go scooping trouts, I will also scoop any legal snook I see.

Vegas Dave- any interest in giving me a heads up where you got that snook, just so I can go see if there are any floaters of course.

It dropped another degree and a half last night at the cooper river entrance.

Last I saw was 46 and dropping this morning

Here ya go sir

Plus you won’t be scooping any snook, they can’t survive below the mid 50’s temps, so there’s that

I live for these housebound days when baba waxes nostalgic. really

Yea that’s a cliff… dang, lets hope they already acclimated like suspected and can fade it a little better than previously expected…

Thanks for the update, I’m gonna hop outta here for now

Just looking at the inshore temps on the eastern seaboard today (traveling and bored), and it’s not good.

The areas I fish some anymore are around Beaufort NC and the Harkers island area.

For what it’s worth the creeks around there are in the upper 30’s now. Not good

Heading south, Wilmington and Onslow creeks dropping fast, now around 45.

Winyah Bay, even worse.

Al Gore is my 4th cousin, no kidding. Who would’ve thought?

let’s listen in…

Here’s a link I found some of you might use…

A friend sent me this pic of the IOP Pier earlier today…

Trout in VA are wiped out. LA had 10" and creeks are in the 30s. Got a video today of Matagorda in TX with dead trout everywhere. It’s the trout massacre of 2025 along the whole USA it seems.

Plus, all that snow is gonna melt at 32 degrees and really cool the water.

Just dammit

I pity the white shrimp too, probably the brown ones as well.

Yeah, I been getting pics this afternoon too, sad indeed. This one’s gonna sting for years

Harbor temps have bottomed out at 45F, gotta say, with the lows last night I was expecting worse.
We’ll see what happens when it all melts. I’ve received that pic of the dead trout from about 5 ppl today. Has anyone validated it? I’d like to know who took it and exactly where before I believe it.

I saw it, too. It was posted on the FB group, SC Inshore Fishing, by the Admin, Kevin Heuple.

I’m not verifying the authenticity, just sharing what he posted.

It’s going to be interesting to see what the increasing temps do to the snow melt and rapid runoff tomorrow.

Mid 40 degrees will melt most of that snow tomorrow, but 45 being the bottom water temp is suspect to me.

let’s listen in…

@Optiker Great analysis approach for correlation! Thank you very much for your work!

Two things…

Where exactly is the temp monitored in the harbor?

Do you mind sharing a link where you downloaded the data from NOAA? I looked but I can only download historical data starting with 2023

I got a report of floaters in Russel Creek this morning. No pics sorry, hes elderly and has no smartphone. Said it got down to 25 last night, ouch
