Wind and seas

The sea forecast for this past weekend was smaller seas then yesterday. Yesterday was a larger swell but much more enjoyable. My question. What’s the best wind direction for for this area. It’s kinda new to me. Forecast shows it’s gonna build later in the week. What’s your opinions?

Wind wise , west is the best followed by south west and south east. North east is the worst and north isn’t much fun either. Seas are usually from the south east. If you get to 50 ft , then the seas usually spread out but can also gain height. I find that the buoys will give you an idea -Grays reef and Charleston since we are in between. http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=41004 and http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=41008. Combine that with Sail flow, reef cast and national weather http://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=NWS&issuedby=CHS&product=AFD&format=CI&version=1&glossary=1&highlight=off and you will have a pretty good idea whats expected.

Thanks. The first two are info I was looking for. Plus the local intel.

Thanks Tridogs for the info. We got a small dose of NE wind Friday on Saint Helena Sound. Decided to hit the sandbar near monkey island in the afternoon and around 2:30 headed to Otter Island. On our way back (5ish) the wind came up with surrounding storms and on an incoming tide. It was a long rough and wet ride back around monkey island. Now I know to stay away from that sound under these conditions. On a positive note, one Spanish M. jumped inside the boat.
