I got to Myrtle Beach a few weeks ago and everyone on the pier was just bringing in the spots, pompano, blues, whiting and not quite keeper sizd black drums. We fished the next day and did okay but the next day it was dead. The wind was blowing north on the dead day but I did not even pay attention the first 2 days. Some guy said it was dead because the wind changed direction. With these fish migrating south, maybe he was right? I really had never heard that but what are your thoughts on wind and fishing the surf/pier for the migrating panfish? Thanks!

I should clarify that on the dead fishing day, the wind was blowing from the south and toward the north since I actually described it wrong in the first post.

Wind from the east, fish bite the least. Wind from the west, fish bite the best. That’s generally true but not exclusive.

Also…Winds from the North, don’t venture forth. Winds from the South, blows the bait in the fishes’ mouth. Again not exclusive.
