Wolfpit Run fishing on James Island, SC

I just recently moved to James Island and am close to the intersection of Folly Road and Camp Road. We actually live about a mile down camp raod past the Middle School. our subdivision backs up to Wolfpit Run Creek.

Is anyone familiar with kayak fishing wolfpit run? Directly out of my backdoor you can walk 30 feet and be on the water. During a dead low tide, there is no water remaining behind my house. During a high tide, the water runs roughly 3-5 ft. I have been able to paddle around wolfpit run heading towards Sampson creek but have not had much luck other than a couple small flounder caught on old docks and other structures.

Any tips on helping me find ore quality fish? Or a higher quantity of fish?

I am desperate! Talked to numerous people who informed me to scout the new areas with live bait/ cut bait to locate fish and once I locate these fish, switch to artificial…

PLEASE HELP!

Any information would be greatly appreciated! Even if it is only a suggestion…

I spent the last twenty six years of my life fishing. I grew up on freshwater and spent countless hours fishing both inter-coastal and surf conditions between Savannah GA and Chaarleston Sc and every where in between it feels like.

I have been stumped yet again! But I am confident I will figure it out! Always have been able to find a way, and always will find a way.

(**() really? 61 people have read my post already? 61 people have read my post and not one person has provided any ■■■■■■■■? I am not asking for your secret honey holes or magical bait! Just need some help!

maybe no ■■■■■■■■ because none of the readers knows anything about wolf pit creek…I never heard of it…so I can’t offer any advice. If you’d like info on the Stono River than maybe you’d get more help. or maybe post your question in the kayak section?

I grew up on James Island and have never heard of it. If the creek is dry at low tide then I wouldnt expect it to be terribly fishy. The closer you get to deep water the better.

I’ve never heard of that creek but I assume it leads out to James Island creek by the location you described. If you could get out to James Island creek, you could find some fish if you put in the time looking.

If you look the comment ratio is almost always over 100 to 1 unless its something people can hate on. Just a heads up. If no one speaks on a spot it means 2 things its great or no good. If you mention a good spot someone will hate. This spot clearly is not a good spot.

I just reread that you have a kayak. There are plenty of good areas for kayak fishing all around JI. A few minutes perusing Google Earth could provide some fishy areas to check out and perhaps some unpressured spots to slide a kayak in the water. There are lots of good docks to bo fished out towards folly. You can get up tight underneath while sheepshead fishing like boats can’t if you’re feeling brave.

Where did you move from?

I read it, just have no advice/intel to share as I know nothing about where you are speaking about.

If you are asking specifically about wolfpit run, I can’t give you any advice, Never fished that area or heard of it called that. I would agree with Rapchizzle, there plenty of fishable areas to kayak fish here on JI. If you are looking for area launch from without going through someone’s backyard. Any public boat landing will get you there with some effort. Some areas, you might want to try, James Island County Park, there’s a fishing dock there you can launch from. There’s also, a sort of public dock near Lowe’s, behind the MUCS building, you can see it from the bridge.

Ya know, it must be nice living in Neverneverland. Remind me to come visit you, when I need a break from reality.

Well Jeffwake, three posts in 2 hours and you are upset no one has given you advice. Looks like several have now given very good advice.

Hope you catch em up. I don’t know your area, but like several have said most creeks that turn to mud at low tide are not very fishy… Unless they have a couple of deep holes in them somewhere that hold water at dead low.

I met rap once, he convinced me to join this CF interweb chat room back in '08. Ergo, peapod is real and he will fish out all your wolfpit run holes
