a buddy called last night and asked if I wanted to go watch the latter part of game 7 at a local bar. Dawned on me that I had no idea it was game 7.
Talked about that with my friend and we were both trying to figure out why we lost interest in baseball. We both used to watch religiously as kids and now don’t follow it minus a game 7 in the WS.
Does the season really need to be 160 Games? I watched more baseball last night then all season I think. Also used to make at least one trip per season to Atlanta when I was on their bandwagon and haven’t done that in a few years now.
Loved to play baseball but it’s about as exciting to watch as paint drying and golf.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

They need to shorten the season to 100 games. 162 is way too many and I lose interest after the all star break. When college football and NFl starts I definitely do not watch it anymore. Start the season in April and have it OVER by the middle of August.
Regular season baseball has been 160+ games since the 60’s, so it’s just kind of how it is. Try fantasy baseball, it will make it more intresting, if you want.
Otherwise, great post season. Really was fun watching the Royals cruise through after they haven’t been a contender since 1985. Bumgarner had their number the whole series. That guy will be getting stright paid next year. MOst pitches in a post season by 1 pitcher, ever.
Society has changed more than baseball. We all want instant gratification and our attention spans is nil unless what we are watching is fast paced.
Games have lengthened approximately 30 minutes since the 1950’s till now. IMO, that is because it is harder to get outs, due to the best pitching being diluted through expansion. In 1950 there was a total of 16 teams. There were 30 this year.
Made one trip to Atlanta for years and just lost interest a couple of years ago. Parked on the perimeter and bused in making it easy except for having to walk thru underground Atlanta. Maybe the new stadium and some changes in game length will make it more attractive? We will have to wait and see!

Totally agree with ya on that. Hell soccer is more exciting to watch than baseball and I barely understand the rules behind that sport…
I’ve always liked baseball?.from childhood till adulthood?for over 40yrs. The game itself hasn’t changed but the players have and so has the $$$$. Major league players hitting 250 act like their the best players on the earth, keep stepping out of the box, adjusting this and that, in between every pitch. It makes each AB interminable! Add to that the prolonged delays between innings so that sponsors can flood their ads on TV and games seem endless. I watched every WS game but only was able to see the end of game 7, all the others I was in bed by the time the games ended. “back in the day” between inning breaks only lasted the time it took for a pitcher to throw 8 warm-up tosses. Now, it’s at least 5 minutes between innings in MLB. Minor league games are still pretty good, especially in person.
