Would you eat it?

Impossible Foods is the first food company to add heme to its vegan products in an effort to replicate the taste, color and aroma of animal meat. Heme is what makes animal blood red, and it's found in all living things, including plants. When Impossible Burgers cook in a pan, they secrete a pinkish juice that resembles blood, and they also give off the smell of charred meat.

Kind of freaks me out to be honest, but so do intensive feed lot factory cattle and pigs…

No thank you, I wouldn’t touch it. I have more than enough venison than I can possibly eat, and the other side of the family has a rather large herd of Belted Galloway.

RE: Would you eat it?

May not have a choice if you eat out! Restaurants might sneak this stuff in if its economical to do so!!!

I saw this and thought it was going to be a continuation of the Connor thread discussion.

As much as you trust scientist, why wouldn't you?

I’d have to be really hungery and no other food choice available Never say never but it would have to be an emergency or accidental.

Dad picked up a couple from the orangeburg market a few years ago. He resold them, heard they were good meat cows. How do they compare to an angus? Father in law had one. It,s offspring had the band for at least three generations bred back to an angus bull.

I don’t think it would kill me, it’s just gross. The part about secreting a pink juice that resembles blood just sounds…:dizzy_face:

Thing is, this might be the norm in the future. The way we commercially produce beef is not sustainable at all.

At least it’s not called Pink Slime:face_with_head_bandage:

I’m waiting for Soylent Green.:stuck_out_tongue::stuck_out_tongue:

I can speak that that burger is really good. In fact it is so good that I need to order some more, hint hint.

Down here is where a signature goes but they can confuse and anger some people so I don’t have one.

Are you following me up to the Off Topic section now? As they say in the Carolina/Clemson threads, Obsession isn’t just a perfume.

Ed how do you figure that the way we produce beef is not sustainable? It’s plenty sustainable and could easily be increased. I’m sure in petas eyes you are right.

On my initial look… I thought it was a farm raised Lab dog product…

He thinks it’s not sustainable because he doesn’t know jack about ranching but heard about it on the internet…
