ESPN analyst for the SEC Network and former Florida wide receiver Chris Doering had an interesting take on his prediction if Alabama and Clemson played against each other this season.
Doering tweeted on Sunday morning," I may rank Clemson #1 because they are unbeaten, but Alabama would pistol whip them every day of the week."
It’s not like Bama has had a record of losing against high powered offenses that can spread it out right? Ole Miss isn’t near the team that Clemson is on either side of the ball and smoked them. IF Clemson’s O-Line could protect Watson the Tigers would win pretty big. It would be similar to the FSU game actually. We would stop their run game (eventually) and make their B-rate QB win the game against the best secondary he’s seen all year.
TA&M, Auburn, tOSU, and Ole Miss all know it’s his weakness.
So Bama runs all over a Kevin Steele defense and all of the sudden they are the best team in the country, unbeatable even. Got it… Can’t wait for that one!
Oh, by the way, our former third string qb says hi…
Kelly was never the 3rd string QB, as soon as they told him that 3 and out Stoudt was the starter he called them idiots and punched dabo in the face. Stoudt didn’t last a month. Kelly made the correct call.

Down here is where a signature goes but they can confuse and anger some people so I don’t have one.
There are a few teams I think would give Clemson a run for their money. Bama, Florida because of their incredible defense, Baylor, and TCU due to their explosive offensive. I think in a shootout, it would be a great one to watch. LSU, OSU, MSU would all be tossups I think. I’d love Clemson to get Ole Miss in a bowl game for the Kelly connection, but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen with no more competitive games in their season. Clemson would have to drop a game and that’s unlikely. That it unless NC can put together it’s best game of the year. They’ve been playing great since laying an egg against SC in the opener.
I don’t think so. Tennessee gave them all they could handle. Your gamecocks could have beat Tennessee. Bama will be holding their hands on their hips and flopping on the ground in the fourth quarter to slow down DW and the rest of Clemson’s offense. I know Clemson could slow down their offense enough to win.
I’ll agree with that except I’m more worried about sc. They’ll play inspired with nothing to lose. Beating cu would be a type of season maker for them I hope cu doesn’t play to “stay unbeaten”, instead of playing to kick A.

That’s interesting. Did you watch the Alabama \LSU game?
I think Clemson could hang with bama. Might not win but would think it would be competitive. Our defensive lines are as good and while their OL is better our QB is 2x better.

Our recievers are 3-4xs better and our TE’s are better. Our secondary is better, lb’s are just as good. I think Clemson wins walking away.
Well, maybe we’ll get a chance to find out. I told y’all earlier that LSU was vulnerable if a team could stop Fournette, they have zero passing game and their QB is terrible. How and why Les Miles can’t get a decent QB is beyond comprehension. Bama’s QB play and passing game is only marginally better. Key to beating them is tempo with vertical passing and stopping Henry before he gets a head of steam. Make it a trench slugfest and Bama wins, make it fast paced and a track meet they’ll lose.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I hope you’re right. I’d love to see Bama get handed their tail to them once. Watson is way better all around, but I still think the lines are where the game will be won. I think the secondary and LBs are comparable. It would really depend on if Watson could be successful or not.

Indeed. The correct call was to whichever Jim Kelly-paid attorney up in NY after he came back to the club and threatened to spray em all with his AK-47 after he’d been kicked out by being slapped in the back of the head into the street after starting something he couldn’t finish. The correct call was from whomever convinced Ole Miss that if they just had a good dual threat QB they beat Bama and win the SEC.
Yes. Swag made the correct calls, but this SEC homer Doering is an idiot.
Bama’s defense doesn’t match up well against Clemson’s offense. Our defense doesn’t match up necessarily well against their offense either. We’ve got a team built to beat FSU, and they’ve got a team built to beat LSU. It would be a competitive game with the winner being who made the least mistakes and had the most patience for their gameplan to work.
If the Clemson team would get a pistol whipping from Bama every day of the week, then make Bama your number 1 team. Don’t be a punk about it…
So is the difference between DB’s and receivers. So is the difference between LB’s and TE’s.
Take your SEC glasses off…
We have just as many mismatches in our favor as they have in theirs.
Let them try to stop us from running and have a 265lb linebacker trying to cover a tailback, Renfrow or Leggett. It will be there all night. They’re weak in the middle and it happened all day long when Swag Kelly lit them up.
Only an SEC homer would deny what’s so obvious.
All that being said, special teams are horrible right now, and it’s infuriating to me when I see so much talent and energy in the program and then see the absolutely terrible kick return and kick coverage game. That’s where an Alabama or OSU would beat us clearly. It’s worth 30-40 yards better field position for an opponent for 2-3 drives each half than we’ve got, if not actual points on the scoreboard.
