I’m considering renting a place on the Yacht Basin in Edisto this summer. It has a dock. I’m wondering if there is enough depth to run my boat from there? For example, can I only get in/out at high tide? or is it ok at any tide?
I appreciate your help. Thanks in advance

You should have plenty of water at high tide and should be good on a half. I am not 100% about a half tide the only times I have been back there the tide has been up pretty high. Once you get out of the actual basin scott creek is deep enough to get you to big bay creek.
Cool. Thanks a lot E82!

If you let me know which house you are renting, I will check the dock out at low tide and let you know how it looks. If you are at the ends of Yacht Basin, you will be floating on mud and marsh gnats.</font id=“blue”></font id=“size3”>

Yes, it is looking good above the water. I am scuba diving tomorrow at high tide to see what the bottom looks like. I think high tide is around noon so leave the office for lunch and come by the dock and make sure I do not get hung up on all those barnacles.

Brad,
Yes I did!
The whole basin looks high and dry! Wow!
Thanks again, man. Really cool of you to do that for me.

the office closes at 2 on fri if youre going to dive before then let me know. ill take lunch when you dive it. i am curious about what it looks like below he water line.
By the way daniel and i are looking at getting our dive lisence not too long from now. I want to try and catch you to ask you a few questions before i start sinking money into this
E82,
High tide is 1 pm and I want to be in the water before the high tide mark for better visibility. When the tide stops running the visibility will get worse. If work will not allow me to make the dive at noon, I will try on Saturday. I do have a busy morning tomorrow.

The dive went well. The visibility was less that a foot and the prop was in great condition. The keel had barnacles and I cleaned the air coolant intakes. The only thing odd were the numerous little creatures attached to my wetsuit, gloves, mask, and booties when I got out. I was covered with hundreds of them.
