I drank the Yeti cool aid last year. They’re well made and hold ice forever. The only problem is beer only last a day or so…sometimes less. When the “Yeti Performance” comments show up, I have to chuckle a little. It’s a foam box with hard plastic that keeps my beer cold. I’m not saying, I’m just saying.

I made a casual comment about Yeti coolers in front of my wife about a year ago. She obviously cataloged that away and lo and behold, I got a Yeti for Father’s Day this year. I was stunned because it just isn’t like my wife to spend that kind of money on something so frivolous. I wondered if she was cheating on me or if I was dying and she didn’t want to tell me. It turned out that she just loves me and thought my commenting on them meant I wanted one. I have since mentioned a new boat and a 24 year old Swedish girl…still waiting.

That being said, I think it is a nice cooler and I really appreciate my wife buying it but, I never would have spent that kind of money on a cooler. Just not sure it is worth it.

I have had a couple for three years now. Somewhat better for ice retention but the difference is that it should last you a very long time. I have gone through dozens of large coolers with the catering company. They last a year and then they get tossed.

The key to the yeti is to pre chill and use a lot of good ice.

A warn twelve pack and a small bag of ice will last like any other cooler.

I can Do it right and the cooler will hold ice for a week at the hunt club.

x2 on the durability. I have spent at least as much as a Yeti replacing lesser coolers.

They are really nice, I wish I had one. I just have a really hard tome shellin out that kinda money. I just enter the raffles haha

Exactly what he said. Plus, if you dont keep it latched it's just an expensive bucket. Mine has last 5 years in the back of the truck, in the woods, on the water and on the job site. Plus 2 kids. Durability pays for itself. If you keep it iced, it will last for days.

If you buy a Yeti cooler you have to invent terms to justify buying one.

Piggly Wiggly “Pre Chills” everything that I put into a cooler.

I was recently “gifted” one also, and I’ll say that it was a heck of a nice gift. I would have probably never spent that much on a cooler for myself, but I sure do like it  Wildly stronger, keeps ice longer. Much longer. A week in the Florida Keys.

If I was going to steal something off of a guys boat…

it would definitely…

be a Yeti cooler.

And then…

5 days later…

I’d drink me a nice Ice Cold Beer.

Yeti’s have a tendency to grow legs and walk away. Putting your name and number on and in it with a permanent marker pen is a good idea.

I got one of those locking brackets they make for Yetis. They fit into the slot on either side when the top is open and then you can use you own lock/chain.

I guess you have to consider what you are using your cooler for…nothing I do requires me to keep anything cold for longer than draining the water and adding a little more ice for a max of 2-3 days so Yeti’s are not for me…and I’m perfectly fine with admitting this :))

BUT, if Mrs Bonzo bought me a 24 year old Swedish Yeti cooler I would smile and use it best I could!

My bud bought one for 50$. He went to West Marine for a boat part. A lady was sitting in her car in the parking lot crying. My bud asked if she was OK. She said yes, but that she caught her husband cheating on her and was going to return the Yeti cooler because she had not yet given it to her husband. She asked my bud if he wanted to buy it for 50$ and he said hell yes.

you can buy a cheap cooler every 1-2 years or you can buy an expensive cooler every 5-10 years. you’ll probably end up paying the same in the long run… just depends on what you want and how you’ll use it…

if you use a cooler 5 times a year, there is no reason for it, but if you use it constantly in the truck and boat, then it is worth it.

i used to be of the opinion “that is way too much to spend on a cooler”, but then i bit the bullet after replacing latches, handles and hinges (those parts are way more expensive than they should be) constantly on the igloos.

i’ve only had mine a year, so i can’t speak to the longevity yet, but so far, so good.

I thought about the pre chill concept but it is true.

Frozen meat, cold drinks, and good quality ice is the trick. I buy the ice expresss ice and throw them in the chest freezer. Last a long time when filled.
