Well, have you ever spearfished? If the answer is “no”, then that pretty much makes you ignorant on the subject.
Have you ever personally run a boat, set up all the gear, procured the proper bait, advised the crew as to such as well as proper technique, and anchored said boat to fish for grouper and snapper off the coast of south carolina (i.e. have you ever been solely responsible for a trip targetting grouper/snapper with rod and reel off SC)? If the answer is “no”, then that pretty much makes you ignorant on the subject.

However, I'll give an opportunity to take the ignorant hat off. Answer the following 2 questions and if try to get your answer within 5 of the actual answer and I won't call you ignorant for 2 weeks.
1- How many red snapper have I shot, wounded, and lost in 120 dives?
</font id=“quote”></blockquote id=“quote”>
You have shot around 8 and lost 1. Why don’t you include grouper in this question I wonder??? hmmmmmmmm because you suck at finding red snapper and haven’t had many opportunities with them? …just kidding…

2- How many fish have I shot, wounded, and lost in the last 12 months?
Did the cobia swimming off with 2-3 shafts in him happen less than 12 months ago? :face_with_head_bandage: Why do you limit your question to 12 months? Because you've not dove as regularly as in past year and therefore not taken as many shots? hmmmmmmmm
I was going 12 months to be fair. Do you want to go lifetime?
Also…how many fish have you “vented” by stabbing the distended stomach with a knife?
And answer that honestly because when I fished with P1 he thought that was the fish’s swim bladder that was sticking out of it’s mouth and surely, you being a responsible sportsman, would’ve taught him the proper way to vent fish had you yourself known.
The only rule that you really need to follow about bottom fishing and diving is to never have a closed mind.
Most people do not take the time to learn both sides.
There is a HUGE difference between “bottom fishing” and “grouper fishing”.

Well said.
Now can you please ask midgieporgy to stop calling me ignorant when I haven’t been saying stuff like “diving’s easier than fishing” anymore?

I promise I’ll be honest.
NOtsoskinnee another big thing to remember when diving is to turn on your air......Just ask Craig
He took the bait like a jugbelly redfish on an olive and white clouser.

I guess you just aren’t going to do what you said you’d do. That…

give you no credibility here.
I’ve never used a knife to vent fish. I used fish hooks before I got this handy venting tool thingy. I did poke the stomach with the hook before you shared a scientific study with me that said it was best to just let the stomach come back in on its own. Now I only go in behind the pectoral fin.
I’ll bet you a nickel to a dollar the number of breeder red snapper/grouper P1 AND I have released is less than the number of breeder fish that you’ve seen swim off with a spearhole(s) through them.
When the wind lays down lets go. Not this weekend thou–wifes birthday and the Daytona 500. Maybe next weekend–Fish and Dive–We can take two Boats and go after it Hot and Heavy.
We can’t go in the middle of the week anymore because of work (lucky to have some) so now we pray for good weather on the weekends only.

I don’t understand the first part. Is that english?
And I’d take that bet on the 2nd part. I’ve probably wounded less than a dzoen fish in my life. Considering that 100% of the fish you and P1 released with perforated stomachs died (YES 100% of the fish you and P1 stabbed with knives and hooks DIED) I be willing to wager that you two limited out enough times to have release a few legal fish.
FYI…what do you consider a breeder? All gags under 32" are female. It isn’t until about 42" that the male to female ration balances out. Females far outnumber males.
jimmy you know they are right when was the last time you brought a decent fish up by rod and reel, and oh yeah stop shooting sea bass they are a waste of space
Wishinitwasflat, Hey I like that name. Mike, for those out their that think we can’t catch their wrong. It’s just that some days are better diving than fishing as far as the numbers are concerned.
We never shoot BSB, you right, its a waist of time. Anyone can catch them on rod.
The picture of the big Red Snapper, Scamps, Gags, King, and others.
One of the big Red Snapper was caught(by me) on Rod and Three of the Grouper were caught on Rod before anyone of the guys jumped in. All the smaller fish were also caught NOT Shot.
The picture of the table full of Cobia —one was shot that day and the rest Rod caught, that was at the Betsy and I was there. We had a Rooky on the boat that day and let him reel in a few, he had a blast.
Good Luck Everyone. Lets hope for some decent seas this weekend.
We are dying to get out to the Triple Ledge for some of those Wahoo everyones been talking about. Might get a chance on Saturday.

■■■■, I think everyone that bottom fishes has done that, we just dont make it sound like rocket science.
I go catch a bunch of pinfish the day before. Either in a trap or by hook and line if my friends sons feel like doing it for me. Then that night I tie a bunch of simple Grouper and various other bottom rigs. My favorite is a super secret 4 hook rig for bass and Triggers that I call the “Street Sweeper”. Then, I do a super secret thing I’ll share with only you… I go buy Cigar Minnows and Boston Mackeral. Don’t tell anyone that last part. Then, this is the hardest part, I cruise out to the numbers I have and start fishing. I tell all my anglers "if you feel a bits, reel like s#*t. I tell the same thing to hardcore pros and to hardcore 10m year olds.
Its bottom fishing man. Its fun and productive, but its the simplest fishing there is. If you dont catch fish bottom fishing its because you haven’t put in the time to find good #'s, or… you’re such a
