Here’s a thought, maybe Clempson should take their show on the road since they can’t seem to get any justice from the ACC …
It’s no secret they have been talking about that for a while now…along with rumors from FSU as well as the Tarheels.
Rumor mill…
Probably wouldn’t be a bad move for those teams. Being a Tarheel fan, I think it would be a good move to build the football program. One, I’ve grown weary of talking all the ACC SEC junk - and two, it seems like the ACC always has us in the crosshairs. Plus, I want a more routine crack at USC in football. I would like to see the battle of the Carolinas more often.
Chances of moving? Slim at best…probably because of basketball, the double edged sword.
FSU on the other hand…why wouldn’t they make the move? They are consistently on another level and should be playing SEC grade teams.

So you are ok with the conference deciding who will be in the champ game?
Not results on the field?
For you Clemson fans. If you win your conference division, the ACC can decide that FSU is better than you. And let them play in the championship game. So why play the games? just have the ACC decide who the champ is too
Spot on! NO team should be for this. Results on the field is all that should matter.

Honestly, you can keep the divisions within the conference and simply let the two highest rated teams in the conference per the national polls play in the conference championship, if you are going to have a conference championship game. With the playoff system coming, I’m not talking about the 4 team but, what will quickly expand into an 8 or 16 team tourney, it wouldn’t be hard to imagine some top conference teams lobbying to drop that game all together. This doesn’t have to do with just the ACC. Look at say Texas in the Big12, no conference Champ game, if they are in the top tiers, they are slated to play one less game. Less chance of loss, less chance of key injuries, less fatigue, less stress, it gives them an advantage.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Why do you feel this way OBX? Most if the acc feels like its run by duke and unc (Tobacco Road) and even more unc because of swofford. Do you mean only in football?

You are right this is not about the ACC, it was just brought up by the ACC. And you are right about the conference championship games going away (don’t get used to me agreeing with you). If the big10 didn’t have one, OSU would have been in the NC.
But then why have divisions at all. and since the automatic qualifiers are out, why have conferences.
As far as the 4,8,16 team playoff goes, the biggest challenge will be sales. Lets use FSU this year as an example, only cause they played in the NC. I’m just throwing teams out, so don’t argue the teams or venues.
game 1 is against OSU in texas. As a fan would you travel to texas?
ok. FSU wins.
game 2 (1 week after game 1) is against UCLA in Charlotte. As a fan would you travel.
You see where I’m going with this. most people could not/would not pay for all those trips.
So $$ become the big issue. And I bet the big heads at ESPN already have a plan

Shevlin - mostly football, yes. Basketball - you’re right…its usually all about Duke and UNC (even though we suck this year). Bottom line…a change would probably be good for the program. Whether its from the NCAA, the News and Observer in Charlotte, or ACC…seems like we get more than our fair share of bad press (some deserved, but borders a witch hunt sometimes.)
I fully admit that I am no where near as well versed as you guys on how these conferences really work on the inside…that’s why I enjoy reading all of the comments. Prob
Uhhmm, UNC cheated big time in football under Butch Davis. UNC has never put any effort or money into football that may appear to eclipse the basketball program. The Tarheels are basically a schhitty cheating football team. It’s not a witch hunt, it’s the truth. Had FSU or Clemson done anything remotely like UNC was guilty of Swafford would have buried either one of those programs along with the NCAA. I don’t think you can call it a witch hunt so much as a coddling benefit of the doubt and some helpful timely cover ups for the whine and cheese crowd.
Don’t worry about basketball, you’ll still keep the streak over Clemson in the Deandome. The Tiger’s could be up by 40 at the half and they’d still lose since half the team will be fouled out by 2 minutes into the second half.

Salty - (I’ll respond…but I don’t want to get too sidetracked off topic…some folks tend to get upset but just a couple thoughts)…IMO the difference is, in the ACC, you get punished for violations. UNC has paid the price. They take academic fraud seriously, probably much than other schools. They’re ranked in the top 50 schools in the entire world so they’re going to protect their reputation. Butch’s problems hurt the school’s image, I get that, but he was a blip in time. (Sucks, because he was a helluva recruiter!
In the SEC, things like this tend to be swept under the rug and ignored. The story disappears as quickly as it is brought up. SCam Newton immediately comes to m

painfully true. that almost made you think the game was fixed. We were up like 18 or something then it started…4 Clemson players fouled out and UNC shot 48 free throws and hit 40 something of them.
