wasn’t it Dabo that said (paraphrasing)
we are 3 or 4 plays from being undefeated.
Kinda how USC’s season was last year. Although not undefeated but to a much better season.

A Gamecock Nation without Spur, will be the equivalent to the Middle East without Saddam, a complete, disorganized mess.

You weren’t 3 or 4 plays from a better season, you were 3 or 4 entire 4th quarters from a better season. Y’all sure to have a hard time believing the suck has returned to Sakkerliner.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Or maybe 1 better play from the opposing team from a worst season? I thought it was dumb when Dabo said it. Basically, if we’d played better we’d have had a better season. Well no sh*t.
Salty never let facts get in the way of reality…
I was just make fun of the OP.
But to many what Dabo said was “so true”. But for USC, they see it as sky is falling. Whatever.
Yeah, Kentucky didn’t run the same play about 20 times in the 4th quarter of that game that Sakkerliner couldn’t stop. UT wasn’t a very good team last year yet won the game after being down by 2 TD’s late in the 4th in Columbia. Mizzu won after being down 20-6 in the 4th quarter. There are 3 distinct FACTS on 4th quarter meltdowns. Auburn could be considered another but, that game was a dang good one until the end. You got mashed by Tammy and Clemson, those weren’t even close. There’s a whole lot more than 3 or 4 plays in those three games all in the 4th quarter that mean the difference in the record.

Spur has said he’s only got a few years left, that comment was damaging from the start. And yes, the sky has been falling, it will completely fall and crumble this upcoming season.
B8,what do you think will happen when Spur steps aside? Who can USC bring in that will motivate that crowd in the Capital city?Who will be able to carry the torch of “Fun and Gun”?
I dont know but there are plenty of coaches out there. Look the bottom line is that coaches move on all the time and programs do not close the door.
Spurrier is past his prime as a signal caller. He needs to be the HC and bring in a OC to call the plays. If he says the same for the next 2 years, it will be to USC detriment, but to the pint they close the door. Like some here think.
But if he bring in a OC that changes the offense, I think that would help. I wanted him to hire the guy from ECU.

Do you honestly believe Spurrier’s ego would ever allow him to do this?

Nope
Interesting article in yesterday’s State. A poll showed more in our state to be Gamecock fans, but Dabo was more popular than Spurrier. I wonder if that’s always been the case (seriously doubt it), or if sentiments have changed in the last year.

Spur was the reason many players chose Carolina, they wanted to play for a “hall of fame” coach.I just don’t see a Saban,Malzahn or a Meyer type coach coming in on the heels of Spur.
Recruits don’t jump for a Hoke,Mangus,or Elliot type coach either. So,where does the program go from here?
I would not want a coach on the backend of their coaching life.
Look at your coach. He had no HC experience at this level, but he has done fine. Look all over the country, there are young up and coming coaches everywhere. All the coaches you mention coached their first big time coach somewhere. Spurrier got it done at Duke. Would you have thought in his coaching debut that he would have accomplished what he did?
I may be dead wrong, but I think there will be another accomplished name in coaching to follow Spurrier. South Carolina has made the decision to spend big money on their athletics programs and the money will be there to bring in a good coach. If you look at the other athletic programs there you will see the days of grabbing some no name coach and keeping your fingers crossed are in the past at least if they keep sports as a focus. I am not saying they don’t whiff on their selection, but I would bet it will be someone everyone thinks will do a good job when hired. Wisconsin is a prime example of this. They were a terrible football team until they started spending money and now they are competitive year in and year out. It has as much to do with what the University is willing to spend to have a winning program and attract top coaching talent.
Claiming that Texas A&M and Clemson beat the Gamecocks in the same manner just tells me why I don’t need to even talk football with you. I said I wouldn’t do it but (**()it I get dragged back in.

The cocks desperately need a player to step up and be a leader if they want to be good next year. Nobody took over the leadership role after Shaw & Doo Doo’s departure.
I don’t see them rallying around the ole ball coach. Nobody seems to like playing for him…as Clowwney even told a good friend of mine.
Andy, I agree that you guys will get another big name coach. Its an SEC job with a big fan base and $$$.
