Bottom line, each team (Clemson and USC) entered their respective bowl games favored and only one delivered. In my opinion, ND was overrated and UVA was a mediocre team (at best) in a weak (aside from Clemson) ACC conference. Clemson handled their business while USC fell flat on their face. Now, is USC losing their bowl game more “embarrassing” or somehow more of a black eye to the state than having multiple players on your team fail a drug test? I guess that depends on one’s ability to be objective but I believe anyone capable of doing so would disagree.

Why shouldn’t USC fans be jealous of the success Clemson is having? A lot of national programs are jealous of Clemson’s success, as they should be. I think any fan would be envious of their success. Are you really stating the obvious to try to make a dig at USC fans? That’s weak, at best. Plus, it still doesn’t take away from the state’s premier football school had multiple players fail a drug test.
“Mediocre” as it relates to Clemson’s success, I’ll give you that, but Muschamp has more wins than any other USC head coach during the same timeframe. That’s not “mediocre” as it relates to USC’s program’s success. That said, do I think that warranted a raise at this point? No, but then again, Tanner didn’t ask for my opinion on the matter.

Clemson fans are on their 3rd NCG in 4 years and laughing at dumbasses like RBF who think 5akkerliner and ND are close to being as good as Clemson.
UVA is pretty tough though. They’re the Texas of the ACC.

I try not to pick off emotion. I often pick against my alma mater. Bama may be down a few players. Do I think Clemson wins, not really but I believe they cover. I’ve said numerous times this year everyone is playing for 2nd but it’s nice to be the last ones with a shot at 1st.

What’s there to “back off” about? All he’s doing is stooping to the level of emotional USC fans. Anyone that’s objective sees and understands the HUUUUGE gap between the two programs (Clemson and USC). I get the juvenile back and forth banter but for me, that’s all it is. If there was such a historical imbalance (not in my team’s favor) between my team and my “rival,” I don’t know that I’d be nipping at the big dog’s heels. Conversely, if I were a Clemson fan, USC and their fans wouldn’t even be on my radar. Focusing on lesser competition only distracts and detracts from the end game. For Clemson, at least as of recent, that end game is being a relevant national power and regularly competing for National Titles. Again, if I were a Clemson fan, in my mind, USC and that “rivalry” is irrelevant until they (USC) prove otherwise. At this point, Clemson has everything to lose and nothing to gain by playing USC. If they win, they’re supposed to win, but if they lose, that could very well cost them a shot at the CFP and the NT.
