I thought the 2015 played its best game in the championship.
The offensive and defensive lines were incredible this year.
The team has played so well but then one guy will blow an assignment or just have a lapse and it’s normally for a TD. The defense and offense have otherwise dominated other teams by the end of the game.
That being said, this 2015 team is the best I have seen at Clemson in my lifetime. The heart and grit they showed throughout the entire season along with the play calling and coaching of such a young team was remarkable. Every expectation will be different next year, and it will be interesting to see if it’s handled as if they’ve been there before or if the pressure will make them fold up.
Alabama played nearly mistake free while Clemson had a few huge mistakes, and Bama did what they had to do to exploit this team’s weaknesses- kickoff coverage, shallow secondary, no red zone jump ball receivers. Both teams made huge plays throughout the game, and you have to appreciate those things from everyone on the field leaving everything there.
I did not expect Bama to shut Gallman down the way they did, but it was also nice to see Clemson force Bama to not just control the game by handing off to Henry for 7 yards for the whole second half. We were able to stay in the game at least with them scoring on the big plays rather than them holding the ball for 6-7 minutes at the time in the second half.
Best Clemson team I’ve ever seen, but Bama was better this year.
Most coot shirts arrived months ago. Stores had to make more rooms for Bama and Clemson gear. You know championship gear, well maybe coots wouldn’t understand championship gear.
Well, let’s see. Your current “experienced” coach went 4-8 in 2013. Then, your Heisman winning, championship, "experienced coach went 7-6 in 2014. Then 3-9 in 2015.
So Clemson has won as many games in a single season than your coaches have won in the past 3 years combined.
Yeah, I think we’ll stick with proven over “experience”.
Good luck turning those 2s into 4s. I think our walk-ons will score more next year than your “prized” recruits.
DISCIPLINE. Man, you can tell those Bama boys have been coached hard with the kind of execution they had and not making simple mistakes that an individual can control.
How many times do you see in other college teams and the NFL when someone gets a long KO return only to have it called back for holding. Or someone gets a big pass and runs 50 yds. only to have some stupid guard block in the back of someone, or an offensive pass interference, or someone jump off-sides just when a RB gets a huge run, or face mask the runner to tack on extra yards.
Didn’t see much of that from Bama. I don’t know what a perfect Saban game looks like, but (**() I’d hate to be on the other side when he says they played their best ball. I know he meant their defense, but has it not occurred to him that maybe their defense didn’t do anything wrong. Watson and co. are just that good.
So are you guys saying that this game wasn’t lost from coaching mistakes? I’m confused, because I am pretty sure that I saw a tight end catch 2 TDs downfield (WIDE OPEN) for 208 yards on the day and an onside kick from a special teams who wasn’t lined up correctly. Were we watching the same game?

Steve admitted that his heart wasn't in it anymore. It was not due to lack of experience. He just didn't care anymore... He stayed a couple years too long...

Coaches can’t play the games. You can’t blame those busted coverages on coaching. I guarantee that the tide end was someone’s responsibility(TJ Greene), and that someone just completely missed his assignment. The onside kick was just the way they were lined up to match up with the kickoff team.
I do not blame the loss on special teams, it was solely lost on the safeties not being in position to cover the TE coming wide open.
From what I understand, our ST is coached by a collective. Not a single coach. This is a problem IMO. I know we cant add any more coaches per NCAA rules, and Pearman is more of an ast. coach/TE coach with extra titles for pay scale. He isn’t going anywhere. It’s not his fault anyway, he is more a TE coach than ST.
We need a coach to handle just ST, get this KO coverage fixed. Get a return guy that’s not going to fair catch 90% of the time. and give a scholarship to a kicker that can boot it. I guess everyone is now seeing why we gave Lakip another chance after his DUI. Who else was going to kick past the goal post?
Someone explain the “All In” theme to me. Dabo was asked about coaching Alabama after Saban retires or leaves. Dabo said “Never say never, but my commitment is to Clemzzzon.” Does not sound “All In” to me?

Okay, so coaches don't have any effect on the outcome of the game. Got it!!!
Clemson just played a hell of a game FOR A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP and yet their fans are still leading the charge in this irrelevant “rivalry” against USC??? This type of mentality is why Clemson will never be a household name when it comes to national title talk. They’re too busy focusing on state championships and an irrelevant rivalry. Your success is as limited by your goals and focus as it is your talent and abilities. Considering Clemson always puts talent on the football field, that pretty much leaves focus and goals as the limiting factors.
Spurrier came in with the right focus. He was less worried about beating Clemson and more focused on winning a conference title. His focus, at least early on, was right but he wasn’t putting the talent on the field the way Clemson does year in and year out. Say what you want to about Spurrier, his coaching records stands for itself and he will go down as one of the greatest college coaches ever. The way he coached and the offense he put on the field at Florida changed the landscape of college football. I saw nothing wrong with his departure or its timing. What was there to gain by him staying here? He had already lost the locker room, recruits were de-committing, they weren’t going to become bowl eligible. It bottomed out so he did what he needed to do and got our of the way so Tanner could do his job and the team could move on. He is USC’s winningest coach in the program’s history. He owes nobody nothing. He is the reason USC football is even talked about at all. The qualoity of football being played at a school should be why a program is talked about, not its coach. Muschamp has his work cut out for him.
Back to Clemson fans though, y’all should be worrying about bigger fish to fry. Beating USC does absolutely nothing for your school or the program (unless you value state championships for your college) if you’re competing for or at least in the conversation about a national title. Do that on a regular basis and that will do more for recruiting than beating U
