Look guy, if every capt was there every capt would know what was said and what the deal was. Now…if it was mandatory and run in professional manner then the people putting it on would know their place and wouldn’t be ducking for booze and more about the social aspect vs doing their (**() job.

My name is not "guy". It's actually Gaylord...

Secondly. Again, if I am in the tournament, why would I care if someone didn’t hear of the weigh-in being extended to 7? If they are too lazy to come to the meeting or can’t come, that benefits those who do.

I agree with you on the “being professional” part. I have zero issues with what you are saying on that part.

But, convince me why I should give a crap if someone I am competing against doesn’t get wind of the weigh-in extension at the captain’s meeting? I could care less if it causes them confusion. If it was said at the meeting and the meeting takes precedence, then that’s their bad for putting money into the pot and not doing their due diligence of showing up to the meetings.

So you go to the meeting. Someone suggest 7pm the guy says no its 6pm. Then you weigh your fish and are like hell yes. Then at 645 a guy shows up because the person on the committee boat told them they had till 7 to get there. But you were at the meeting and heard everyone say 6. Yet the person on the comm

Because you can’t change the rules if you don’t make sure everyone is aware the change, and if everyone is not required to be at the meeting where you change the rules, it’s not fair to only benefit those who were able to make it there on that night. Again, make the Capt meeting mandatory and that solves any last minute rule change issues.
It’s not a matter of being lazy, it’s a matter of some people have things called family, jobs, travel, etc and if it wasn’t required to be there, then not everyone cares about getting a free koozie for showing up.

Sure you can. That is how the blue marlin tournament is run. You don't come to the captain's meeting is the same as you choosing not to read the rules. Want the updates? Go to the meeting.

Of course it’s fair. Did anyone get told they weren’t allowed to go to the captain’s meeting? Was it exclusive to a small group of invitees only?

Again, what is it that you think the captain’s meeting is for?

If you can’t make the meeting because you live out of town, then enter the tournament AT YOUR OWN RISK. Some times, people can send a rep there, or even make some friends and call them to see if there are any updates. If you make it mandatory then you might shut some people out.

The meeting is where they heard the scales closed at 6 so you need to argue/debate a different angle.

Down here is where a signature goes but they can confuse and anger some people so I don’t have one.

Everyone who actually attended the captains meeting and has chimed in on this thread thus far walked away believing scales closed at 6.

So…if at the captain’s meeting it was decided 6, why the HE LL did they let the big fish weigh? How did the tourney crew let that happen…?

(**() I’m glad I fish for fun.

Breaking my No Post Rule one more time… It would appear as though the tournament committee is going to leave us to debate this issue onto the 7th page of this post or longer. There has still been no call-back to provide an explanation. There have been so many different directions the committee could have gone to fix this screw-up over the last three days, any of which I’m sure all involved would have accepted and moved on. It blows my mind that the Marina would allow the results of this tournament continue to be mired in controversy.

Then you misunderstand my argument. Again, if you want to know the rules, go to the Captain’s meeting. If they said it closed at 6, then it closed at 6.

Look Guy, it appeared you and that Chad fellow were arguing a little bit when in fact you are on his side.

No Guy. We BOTH agree that there is a *benefit* to going to the captain's meeting. The difference is, he thinks it should be mandatory. I do not. If you don't want to go and learn the rules, that's your problem, not mine.

Again, it’s not mandatory to read the rule book, but it sure as hell is helpful.

We fished and had a member at the meeting and he told us scales closed at 7 for what it’s worth

All that does is further highlight the lack of organization the tournament organizers (I see the irony there) had.

No matter how much it hurts, how dark it gets, or how far you fall…you are never out of the fight.

Guys, yall are all getting Skineed. He’s not even arguing with anyone here about the fish, he just doesn’t like things that are mandatory.

I'm not your guy, friend.

But that still doesn’t rule out if you’re the Captain of the U.S.S. Obvious or not. LOL!!!
