My boys finally played a complete game last night and thumped Bama. One thing I noticed ( but have known since 1971 when I became a true Sooner fan), was the absence of any “Big 12” posters or signs being held by players after the game. That is because OU doesn’t need validation from any other program. They are the winninest football program in the modern football era. 47 conference titles, 7 NC’s and 842 wins says enough. It was nice not having to see Alabama players standing amongst the confetti holding up , not “Alabama” signs, but “SEC” signs. What a joke.
And I’m so glad we got to see AJ McCarron’s family group hugging after every big Bama play. Where were Trevor Knight’s parents in the stands when he was throwing not 2, but 4 td’s? Hmmm. EsecPN has thier own agenda and it is so obvious. They raked Stoops over the coals for comments taken out of context. All he did was give credit to the top half of the SEC and question the bottom half. Fair. Not a word about it after the game last night. Crickets chirping.
OU showed Bama things on defense that according to McCarrron " we hadn’t seen before". Hmmmm, what? Surely they have seen great defense in the SEC. They have for sure, but they saw better defense last night. Despite being routinely held by the Kounjo (sp?) brothers, Eric Striker spent more time in the bama backfield than Mc Carron did. All this without 2 of our best defensive players who were out for the season. In fact, OU was without 7 starters, one of whom is their best offensive player. And still beat them.
I was going crazy all night about the ACC officials not calling holding on Bama, despite Striker being groped all night. Even on the final play where he stripped McCarron, Striker was ripped to the ground by Kounjo.
Got to give it to Stoops. Probably his best coaching year. The cupboard was as bare as it’s been in Norman since '98 and we (yawn), have yet another 11+ win season. Life is good. BOOOOOOMER!
Oh almost forgot… Hey Gary Danielson, does this mean OU played “grown man” football? What a complete moronic idiot.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Bandwagon? My wife is an Auburnite, anytime Bama loses it’s good for my house. Bandwagon would be a conference homer riding the coattails of another program’s success.

Glad to see Saban finally play some real teams and get handed 2 straight losses. Bama = overrated

Just tired of coat-tail fans and biased networks all about the mighty $$$$. Come talk to me when you win your 47th conference title and a NC or 7.

I don’t think Alabama was overrated at all. You have to give them credit for what they do and have done. The most dominant team for the last 5 years. Great program. We were just better last night. Funnny, though how i’ve been hearing that bama was “not interested in being there” on the radio this morning. Wonder if OU was “not excited to play Boise St.” when we lost in the Fiesta. Nonsense. OU got outplayed by a team who wanted it more then. Last night Alabama got beat by a team that wanted it more and outplayed them and out coached them. Period.
In fact it was CJ Moseley and AJ who both said that they were not going to lose their last game and were there to prove something ( i guess that they still beleive they are the best in CF). OU came to play and proved that they can beat anyone if they play up to thier ability. OU historically is the favorite in almost every game. It’s a lot easier to play as a 17 point dog than a 4 point favorite.

I concur 100%.
Even after losing two games in a row, I still believe Alabama can compete with anyone in the country.

Blueline, I criticized your Soonerrs in years past for being overrated due to being ranked in the top every year regardless of their record the previous year. I will say that what I saw last night that they have great speed on the field especially on defense and deserved to win that game and deserve a high ranking next year not based on tradition, but the team they have now. Congrats on a good win.

Fair enough. However, it is always the case with the traditional powerhouses. It’s no different with Michigan, Ohio St., Alabama, Texas, USC etc… I think Stoops’ record reflects that even though he is 1-4 in the big one, his teams are always top flight and more times than not, deserve the attention. Plus 8 conference titles and a NC means you will probably overcome a loss of two. Thanks for the kind words.
