I understand the supposed logic (alliances, tie-ins, etc., etc.,) behind bowl team selections, but really?! Granted COB is in sunny Orlando and easy to get to, but two teams the 'Cocks beat got better, more recognized, bowls. A Top Ten finish and two teams below you go to better bowls. For all the teams involved in the year-end bowl frenzy, there has got to be a better way to pair teams up. It has happened or will happen to your team, so this is a common thread in college football discussions. Your thoughts/suggestions/observations and please keep it civil and open-minded. Bonus discussion: What happened to the defenses in the SEC Championship game?
2014-15 will fix a lot of your gripes.
Offense rules now. Won’t be long before defenses catch up again.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Do the “bowls” really matter to you folks? You’re not in the NC game. Everything else is just a consolation prize, really.
I suppose that if you’re used to not being in the National Championship game, that you really focus on what bowl you will end up in. In that respect I suppose it’s really important to some teams…
The system will change next year. We’ll see what the excuses are THEN…
If there’s one thing I’ve learned during my few years of living here in SC…Gamecock fans are one whiny bunch…they are never happy…someone is always trying to keep THEM down like it’s a huge national conspiracy.

You should look at the payouts on the bowls…Cap One isn’t a bad place to be.

That money is shared between all schools.
I asked for folks to keep this civil and open and you start off down the path to name-calling and insults. Thank you for your ill-conceived comments. I am not whining. As a lifelong Gamecock fan, the past few years have been great and will continue to be so as the Ol’ Ball Coach has finally righted the ship and found a good course. Take your negative comments elsewhere, Sir. And your analogy of a conspiracy is totally absurd, BTW.

What was uncivil or name calling about what he posted. He stated it like it was. Geeze some of you need to stay inside and not talk to anyone if you’re offended by people just stating facts. Talk about thin skinned.
Capitol One Bowl has a nice payout and is dang near a BCS. All bowl money is shared hence on of the biggest reasons for the 2 team limit.

I don’t even like college football! You guys are too easy to rile up…which is what makes it so enjoyable.
Coddling isn’t my specialty…
Seriously, it’s funny a guy can be obviously upset about his team’s bowl game location…yet he doesn’t want to hear the truth about how elitist that makes him sound.
Don’t worry…the system is changing…
I happen to love the Gamecocks. Hey without the Cocks there wouldn’t be pissed off Cocks fans to make fun of. It’s the only real enjoyment I get out of college football! LoL
Don’t worry…I’ll try to leave it alone now so that you can have your thread discussion in relative peace.
Go Cocks!
Whoever brokered the deal for the acc to be able to get 2 teams in needs a raise.

BTW, dribble is what one does to a basketball; drivel is silly nonsense
yeah, I’m a geek, but one with a good vocabulary.

Well the Cocks are right where they belong. Stupid loss to Tennessee is what cost us. Clemson or Carolina are not National title contenders. I think the Cocks are getting closer and Clemson is going in the opposite direction.

A win over Clemson a season does not make, a loss to UT a season does break.

The ACC set a record of 11 teams going to bowl games this year. Topped previous record of 10 in 2008 I think, that was also set by ACC. LOL Hey it’s money for the conference and good time for players / seniors no matter which conference you come from. Some will go pro - BUT Many will never play again. Unless you are one of the two teams going for all the marbles it’s just a bonus. IMHO if you go to a bowl (freaking 34 of them now) and are not in the top 25-30 they you likely are a whipping boy to some other team or you get a game with two duds.
J Ford
Very well put and I agree completely with your assessment.
