That is the true mettle of the Gamecocks.

I will second that statement. I did not mean to turn this into a pissing contest. I was only trying to get some thoughts into the bowl selection results. I still believe that the first five bowls (the Sugar, Cotton, Rose, Orange, and the designated NCG) should go to the top 10 teams in the regular season-ending poll. Isn’t that what the teams play for? The archaic and senseless bowl affiliations need to go the way of floppy disk. Just my opinion is all. I never meant to start a fracas here. It has been quite an experience and I honestly wish every team good luck in their bowls. And, A Merry Christmas, a Happy and Healthy New Year with tight lines and safe journeys for all. </font id=“maroon”>:smiley:

Think of what could have been if not for that loss.

I can’t help but notice how often you have mentioned that. Not really sure what you are going for but my guess is it help take the sting out of the USC vs CU game.

They lost to a team they shouldn’t have even been close with in the third quarter. The entire season and post season are why they lost a shot at playing for everything. The CU game has nothing to do with any of it for either team other than in state bragging rights.

Conversely had CU taken care of business and beaten USC and FSU, they’d be sitting there.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Lol, it’s adorable that fans are still talking about FSU…

FSU is a great team, there’s no denying that. But if you think I’m pulling for them as a conference fanboy you’d be mistaken. I’ll pull for AU anytime they aren’t playing Clemson, my wife and half her family are AU grads for undergrad, grad and/or doctorates.

No doubt, the UT loss cost Carolina. Just as the FSU loss cost Clemson. Think of what could have been without that loss, a Clemson team that won it’s division and maybe the conference…that still lost to Carolina. Coulda, woulda, shoulda.

and still in the Orange bowl anyway!

If that makes you happy, good for you. Playing in a conference with only 2 good teams certainly didn’t hurt their chances did it.

Take care of business and you would have played in one too…how’d that work out? The BCS came and will be gone and not one trip. But you have beaten us 5 in a row, that’s gotta be worth something

In the top 2 of SEC one year and we know how that turned out…winning the SEC just isn’t in the cards for the cocks.

Hey, I already said the Gamecocks failed to do what they needed to do to go to the SEC Championship. That being said, to deny that getting to a BCS bowl in the SEC is harder than it is in the ACC is ridiculous. I am sure you think the tiggers would be winning SEC championships I guess? How many ACC championships have they won in the last 20 years? I believe that would be 1. Yep, one more than Carolina has but, it is an ACC championship. I would venture to say they would have the same number as Carolina if they played in the SEC.

Personally, I would rather the Gamecocks win an SEC championship than beat Clemson, it is certainly a much more difficult task.

Probably, that young man was on fire last Saturday. At least the Chickens would have had a shot though.

Both state teams had a chance to play for their respective conference titles. Both teams crapped the bed in games they should have performed better in. After watching FSU this season it is doubtful Clemson would have beaten them at any point but USC should have handled UT with ease.

Truer words have seldom been spoken on CF. And no knock on Clemson, not sure there are many (if any) that would beat the Noles this year.

Only one more has that shot. My guess is it won’t happen but I’ll be pulling for War Eagle either way.

Your assumptions are f’ing funny…never said &@&$ about that… just your boys haven’t taken care of business before, during or after BCS era.

Plain enough?

I am glad you find me so f’ing funny. I was making any assumptions, merely staing my opinion (there is a difference). Is it hard for you to communicate without resorting to profanity? My “boys” have certainly failed to take care of some games they should have won, just as your boys have.

Only when people make “assumptions” about me…if Clemson was in the SEC we’d be where you are, middle of the road.
