I know lots of you cannot wait to share your thoughts.
Here’s how I think it’ll go down.
I think the pressure will be bigger than ever on Tajh Boyd, and it will take a bit to settle in just as it has in the last couple games. Ellis Johnson will have some creative stuff going on to disguise his defenses as well. First down production won’t be the same, but if we can get more than 3 plays run in a series then we can figure out what defenses he’s running based on the players he’s got on the field and then get the tempo going. This isn’t anything extraordinary, it’s just what our offense does.
I expect a few big plays from the Carolina offense, but I feel that the running game won’t be there like it needs to be to keep the ball away from Clemson enough for us not to get going as I describe above. The play of Carolina’s defense will keep us from making it ugly, but I think we’ve got too many different ways to move the ball for you guys to shut us down all game. If your offense cannot have a couple long drives to keep the ball away from us then your defense will get worn down.
1st quarter
CU 3 (make 1 of 2 FG attempts)
USC 10 (3 of these points off a turnover and short field and 7 off Coty Sensabaugh getting BURNT for a big pass play)
2nd
CU 10 (we have trouble moving the ball on USC’s defense but get a huge play from somebody to get in for 6)
USC 17
3rd
CU 27
USC 20 (USC gets a huge punt or kick return and momentum swings when 2 or 3 tries to Alshon inside the red zone fail and USC settles for a FG)
Final
CU 41 (Bellamy and Howard come in with fresh legs and start clipping off 8-9yd runs. Ellis calls run blitzes and we start with our outside stuff. Defense backs off and a couple long passes move the ball quick. Welcome to Williams Brice, Sammy Watkins…)

Dang it Phin, I cant believe you would make this kind of prediction after seeing how much 23’s early season predictions have come back to haunt him…hush man!! Another bold prediction like this that could come back and haunt our tigers and I am going to have to close down the state/world record scales in the back!
Im sticking with the one game at a time method. It has worked thus far, and if it aint broke, dont fix it. And hell, I predicted 7-5 or 8-4 at the beginning of the season so I am trying to look at anything else as icing on the cake…
They might put up 61. The defense at SCAR has caused some turnovers and game winners but they also allowed a lot of points eg UGA game defense won but also let UGA keep it close …
Its to early for me to look up stats, but I’m sure CU has given up more points than USC.
