Here’s a thought. USC has not scored first yet this year.
Phin, are you saying CU banged up AU for us?

You know my answer.
What I’d like to know is if you feel like if we could take Clemson off Auburn’s schedule altogether for 2011 and Carolina played Auburn at Williams Brice in place of when Clemson played them in Clemson, would Auburn have still taken until the final drive of the game to beat you? Would you still feel as though you could beat Auburn 4 out of 5 more times that game was played? Would you still feel as though Garcia’s play lost you that game? Or would Auburn have scored more points with more of their offensive weapons still on the field, their undefeated mindset, 2 games less wear on them physically, etc.
Just curious if you really think Clemson didn’t whip Auburn physically this year just as last year and that it didn’t help Carolina’s chances significantly.

How many SEC teams have dominated the National Championship game? Every year some big time high scoring offense averaging 50 points a game meets a stout defense and does NOTHING. Clemson looks impressive on offense…defense will cost them a shot at even making it to the national championship game. DEFENSE wins championships ! 1998- Tennessee 23 - FSU 16…2003 LSU 21 - Oklahoma 14…2006 Florida 41 - Ohio St 14…2007 LSU 38 - Ohio St 24…2008 Florida 24 - Oklahoma 14…2009 Alabama 37 - Texas 21…2010 Auburn 22 - Oregon 19. Thats averages out to be SEC 29.4 all those HIGH POWERED OFFENSES 17.4… Keep dreaming ! Oregon was averaging over 50 points a game coming into the National Title Game last year and managed 19…WOW. GAMECOCKS WIN 23-17.
I love how CU fans use the we beat them up story. but when people say things like playing in the SEC is the tough conference in the land, and the teams get beat up week in and week out. Is a load a crap.
Laughable

I’m confused. How again do previously played NC games involving teams other than SC have anything to do with how Clemson and SC match up in Nov.???

It’s all laughable and pretentious at best.

Auburns defense was average last season and they held the Peckers to 17 while piling up 56 on the board in the SECCG. They went on to defeat Oregon for the BCSNC. Dynamic offenses can negate a good defense just as easily in today’s CFB.
Ya’ll can keep harping on the “Dominant Defense” all you want but until that defense stops a team with a balanced attack and the new offense puts points on the board against a good team, I’m not buying into stats/rankings padded by sub par competition.
Here’s a question not based on a Clemson/Carolina comparison: How would the USC defense aquit itself against a dominant physical O-line like LSU or Bama? Would they stop the run? Would they shut down the pass? Sack the QB on every play like some of you think they must be able to do?

Mark,
Has anyone compared USC to Lsu or bama. No. Would we sack qb every time. You know that answer. But cu oline is not comparable to them either.

But stats say they are close, well Bama and Clemson anyway. That is if you rely on sacks as a measure of the O-line. Bama has allowed 14 with a predominately rush oriented offense. Clemson has allowed 16 on a more balanced attack to pass heavy attack. LSU’s allowed 7, now that’s impressive. Then again Clemson hasn’t faced a “Dominant #1/2 Rated Pass Defense” ye or a front 7 with a bunch of predicted future NFL stars on it. Or has it?

Supposedly UNC’s front 7 has 3 or 4 projected future NFL stars on it while UNC’s DB’s talked about shutting down Watkins and the rest of the recievers. Personally I didn’t see it last week. Va Tech was supposed to be a beast of a defense as well but Clemson far outshined them that night on the defensive side of the ball. But hey, that wasn’t SEC quality.

Do you guys honestly think taht after you get burned a couple of times deep by the speedsters, your defense will not loosen up a bit? I agree you have a stiff defense, but I say we will pick it apart by the third qtr.
Predicting scores is arbitrary and meaningless. W’s and L’s are whats important. A heart breaker that SC loses in the last seconds would be cool too. You know, one that the chicken curse had a little something to do with…
