Clemson vs BC

Thoughts on this guys?

With stoudt playing we have not scored a TD since his first seriers against UGA. That’s 27 possessions.

Really nervous. Unless our D gets some turnovers I think we lose.
Going to go glass half full and say

CU 24
BC 20

If watson was in we would win by 17.

BC did beat So Cal and looked pretty good doing it. I think the taters win but by 10 or less. The D will have to be stellar.

BC is a very weird team. They beat SoCal a week after losing to Pitt in a game that was a lot less close than the 30-20 score indicates (Pitt rushed for over 300 yards and was leading 27-7 late the 3rd quarter).

But on the other hand, Clemson without Watson has been pretty pedestrian. I still think Clemson has a significant edge across the board talent-wise and that will seal a win. It just won’t be super comfortable.

Clemson plays like crap up there. That said, they’ll win by 10 and the game won’t really ever be in doubt. They like to run first, the Tigers don’t give up much on the ground unless Gurley is on the back of the jersey.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Calling the upset.

Watson is missed dearly. BC is motivated and wins by a late touchdown

I’m starting the agree with 23.
No Watson. And CU has not won on the road yet. But BC has been all over the map

Clemson has not lost since being favored since GT in 2011, mid season. But hey streaks can’t go on forever…

Ya gotta remember that Stoudt did not practice last week…

They still scored a win.

A win is a win…

With a week of practice I can not think that he will not be improved/prepared. He is a student of the game.

The kid is a team player.

I think the team will rally behind itself.

This is a statement game for Clemson…I do not think it is a trap game at all.

I know, I know, all you Gamecock fans may say what you will, but I think they will make a statement.

They take their underdog mentality seriously up there.

They have the talent to win big. I never count them out.

I think they win going away.

I am curious how he was hurt all week was going IR (In my eyes IR means not dressing). Played most of the game. Took some good shots. and yet he is fine to practice this week.

Every team takes being the underdog seriously. They were the underdog to FSU with their backup QB. See how that worked out.
But more importantly, they are not the underdog against BC.

I am picking BC

Just trying to point you guys in the right direction.

I guess most of you didn’t see what Clemson did to FSU’s, NCSU or UL’s running games??

2012 Clemson defensive unit would get ran all over this year.

Not the case in 2014. We have experience and confidence at LB now, and we have a couple tackles and ends who have been playing excellently. Even our youngest guys who have been getting into the rotation have been playing extremely well. If you watched the UL game, you would have seen #10 making huge plays behind the LOS when we needed it most.

BC runs something similar to NCSU. We forced NCSU out of the run early in the game by scoring fast. The only way BC presents a problem for us is if we fail to score for 2 or 3 quarters and they continue running the ball despite of its success, or lack thereof, up to that point.

I was more worried about UL than I am about BC. We can outrun BC and get some big plays that I knew we wouldn’t get against UL. BC’s goal will be controlling the clock and limiting our possession. Stoudt has played well against these same guys last year as well… they are literally the same guys on BC’s defense.

I think our O line will be approaching Saturday to make a statement and prove that they can run block- as they did on our last possession against UL. The problem that we have had so far this year on offense is lack of identity. There’s been too much inconsistency. I don’t even view the NCSU as consistency because that had as much to do with them having a bad game as us having a great 1st quarter. After that 1st quarter, we were subbing in 2nd and 3rd string for the rest of the game. The coaches having that approach against SCSU and NCSU to get experience for the younger players is good in the long run, but in the short term I think it prevented the 1st team players from getting the PT together that they needed.

31-13 Clemson

You are touting stopping the run against teams that don’t run very well.
The 3 teams you mention are in the bottom half to bottom 3rd in rushing. BC is 5th.

While I think you may be right on this one, I hope you go 0/2.

Fish, I believe Shaw was supposedly injured pretty badly a couple of games last year, but came in and played well. I think Mizzou comes to mind.

Take off the coot glasses, b8.

BC hasn’t played Clemson yet- the others have.

FSU had 13yds rushing on us… in 4+ quarters AT FSU.

You can believe that FSU is just terrible at rushing the ball and that Clemson’s rush defense isn’t good if you’d like. You are correct in that statistically, FSU is not one of the best running teams. I’d suggest you consider the possibility that at this point, after Gurley torched them late in that game, we have a great front 7 and depth, however, and if you’d watched them play it’s pretty obvious that they are playing very well. In position, playing disciplined and tackling well.

BC is “5th in rushing” by playing the following teams, btw…

UMass
Pitt
Maine
CoSU
NCSU
USC

The only ranked/respectable team in that bunch was USC, which BC put up 450yds rushing against.

Kind of an anomaly, don’t you think, when BC only rushed for 142yds in their LOSS to Pitt…?

Pitt defense holds them to 142yds but USC lets them get 450yds? Seriously???

USC had an all around horrible game at BC. I remember seeing the highlights and thinking, “Dang, they weren’t tackling worth **** there.”

We play BC every year, and every year it’s a hard fought game. We aren’t flying in from the PAC12 thinking we’re going to win just because.

The way I see it, Clemson is going up there with something to prove- because nothing’s been proven by this team yet this year, and they are fighting to get into the Orange Bowl by finishing up with two losses with an undefeated FSU going to the playoff and opening up that ACC spot in the OB…

You are right. And it was well known. But salty said Stoudt was going on IR. To means that means no dress, no play. I don’t remember the announcers talking about the injury either. I’m just wondering if it was just the Clemson faithful trying to make things look better than they are.

Clemson’s flagship station in the upstape is very concerned if that matters…
