I know you cant make the call now, but do we know about when it might be made? Friday? Saturday morning?

Hoping to get to fish this tourney with you guys, but standing by to pull the trigger based on weather. I do have a question though, can you describe “the shoot-out”? Thanks!

To those individuals that are “holding out for the weather”… we typically follow most big tournament rules. Unless there is lightning or small craft advisory (which has been very borderline in the past) we fish the scheduled tournament. I would encourage those of ya’ll that are on the fence to still come and fish. It just makes it that much more challenging to see if your fish will bite!

p.s. I wonder if Chuck and Shane will be wearing the rain goggles at blast off … hee heee

Weathers not looking terrible for the tourney. 10-15sw 70f but 70% chance of rain. If there’s a chance of thunder storms will they cancel or does there have to be lightning in the area? Also if it is cancelled will it just be moved to Sunday?

remember its Charleston one minute it is bright blue skys next its a really bad thunder storm our weather is bi polar

For all those concerned, the chances of a cancellation are fairly small. The Beaufort tournament last year was fished during a small craft advisory. Lightning during the blast-off period could possibly postpone the start, but I don’t believe they will call the tournament due to inclement weather. It would have to be one hell of a storm!

Okay guys, just got off a conference call with the tournament committe. The event is on go for this weekend. We will continue to monitor the weather conditions.

The committee has the right to cancel the day's fishing because of unsafe conditions. The decision would be made at the call of the (Saturday morning) 5:30 am forecast.

Good news! Picked up JL Marine as a sponsor. Someone is going to get a Powerpole at the Charleston event! Thanks Powerpole!

Ok guys, I spoke too soon and put my foot in my mouth. The Powerpole will not be given at the Charleston event  It will be given at a later event. Sorry!!!

We do however, have some very nice raffle prizes for the Charleston event!

  1. A large steamer from southernsteamers.com Great for Lowcountry boils!
  2. GoPro 3 - Courtesy of Crews Chevrolet.
  3. YETI Cooler - Thanks YETI!
  4. Battery Charger - Courtesy of Crews Chevrolet.
  5. DEKA Marine Battery - Courtesy of Santee Industrial Products.
  6. Every angler will receive a “Tarpon” beverage opener - Compliments of YETI
  7. Many baits from Z-man, Slayer & DOA.

Come on out to the Captain’s Meeting on Friday and get some of these prizes.

Well if it’s 70% and chance of thunderstorms we won’t be fishing not safe for us smaller boats to get out in that. Could get ugly if a storm popped up far from the landing.

And Sundays saying less than 5… How does that happen

The Shoot-Out is a scaled down event. A Pre-event meeting usually takes place the same day as fishing, usually at the landing, and is very brief. LCRC rules apply. No points are awarded at the shoot-out. Usually, winner takes all, but not always. The winner of this years Shoot-out will "Earn" a spot in the Championship, provided the Captain fishes 3 of the regular events, And the Co-angler fishes 2 of the regular events.

With respect, the captains meeting is tomorrow and there are no rules on the website that I can find?

You have a PM

Is there anyone wanting to fish that has a boat and needs a partner? My boat has been down and even tho the weather doesn’t look great for Saturday I don’t really want to miss out and not fish it. I have my split on everything.

Thanks for the reply. The weather might be a little much for my skill level but I’m definitely interested. It sounds like a good time, good experience, and maybe even some good information.
