One possibility is Mike Fralin who runs Ugly Ducklin Charters-the marina may have his number. Another possibility would be Edisto Watersports… who may do inshore?I don’t know of many guides who fish inshore out of the South Edisto. You could also check about the North Edisto, out of Bohicket. Some say inshore fishing is better in the North Edisto than the South?

Check with Chris Chavis with Finstalker charters. He fishes out ofthe bohicket area but might be able to pick you up at the Dawhoo landing which is on your way into edisto. Tarpon fishing is going on then and with that type of thing you are bound to catch some big sharks.
He took the bait like a jugbelly redfish on an olive and white clouser.
thanks guys

I see that guy often and he never ever burns more than a quart of gas, his boat is crap, he smells of stank beer, his stories are lame, he fishes with like 30lb braid so as not to loose any tackle,he is an ok guy to hang out at dockside with I guess, but a worse or lazier inshore guide you will be hard pressed to find.
Sorry Roger, didnt mean to step on any toes, but that guy is about as bad an ambassidor to our sport as anyone I can imagine. My opinion.

Edisto Fisher - I couldn’t have written it any better. You nailed it.
I thought all he did was take Yankees out to the “B” Can to catch dogfish (dangerous sharks in Yankee speak)

Finstalker is one of the best in town. www.finstalker.net
Capt Chris has had a good reputation for many years
Not to disagree with any of the forum members but I met CPT. Fralin today and he seems to be very knowledgeable in the south Edisto area. Have not been on a guided fishing trip with him but he is very helpful in giving you information on where to go to target what you are looking for. We even caught a couple of fish today on one of his secret spots in the wind and rain.
Thanks, Primetime.
Edisto-fisher should get his facts right.
Don’t charge $400. Don’t drink beer. Burn way more than a quart of gas.
Been fishing these waters professionall for over 18 years.
Maybe some people should be more careful what they say about others. This is a public forum. ![]()

My parents moved to Edisto a couple of years ago, and I had been inshore fishing for about 4 years prior to that in the gulf. So I wanted to get a charter before I started learning the place on my own. Me and a buddy went out with Steve and the weather was not ideal, but doable. At the first spot we caught about 5 or 6 reds, mostly under sized, but a couple in the lower part of the slot. I had no experience so I figured we were doing alright, but Steve wasn’t happy. So he decide to take us for a ride. At the second spot we got 2 more in the upper slot for our two limits, and 4 between 27"-30". It was great. I think it was like $220 for both of us and we threw him a little extra. We had to head in early due to the weather. Nice guy, and great guide if you want to catch fish. He knows his stuff, new boat or not.
Steve Franlin and I were class of 1967, Walterboro High School. He was a fine fellow back then. Since buying a condo at Edisto, I’ve reunited with Steve, and he is still the same fine, upstanding gentleman. Steve, I admire the restraint in your response to the unwarranted bashing you got. I’m headed back to the beach in the AM and look forward to seeing you. The Huff and I are fishing Friday. He put it on me Sunday in the N Edisto! If you ever need a reference, don’t hesitate to call me. Bob Sanders
ouchtown, population - edisto fisher.
Steve is a good guide. Also, Charlie and Jeremy at Edisto watersports are two very knowledgeable guides that have been fishing the area for years.
edisto-fisher nailed it. All except the money,I recall it was around $275 for 4 hours with two adults and two kids.
This trip was about three years ago and it went a little something like this. We meant on the dock early afternoon and it was scorching hot. Ugly boats don’t scare me that’s what I’ve fished in my whole life and I was kind of happy to see our guide was not about looking the part and we assumed at this point that meant his focus was the fish.
So we’re pulling away from the dock when Fralin annouces he hadn’t had time to catch any bait and asks who can throw a net.
Don’t get me wrong I love throwing my own net, for free. But thrity minutes later we have our bait and after a short ride we arrive at the oxbow. Rising tide and looks promising.
Lines in for 30 minutes and nothing. After an hour we’re 1 for 1 (20" shark)
. 2 hours in and at least five cherry flavoreds later for our “guide” and we suggest a change of scenery. He declines
, says this is his best spot. 3 hours in and nuttin. Another call from us to move and he insists he has no were else to go[:0].
You know, it was hot and he had a morning group…and…and…and. Let’s see, how can I put this gently.
Suck it up, be a pro and find some fish, IT’S YOUR JOB.
Long story long, thanks for nuttin Capt. Fralin

I can’t help but respond to the ill advised comments made by EDISTO-Fisher and Pioneer197 regarding Master Captain Steve Fralin. Those of us that are locals at Edisto recognize Steve as one of the best and most knowledgeable inshore guides. The most important part to recognize is how generous Steve is with his knowledge. He always helps newcomers, and even gives up his best spots in order for them to have success. i have seen him countless times help others with rigging, maps and knowledge. Day in and day out, Steve puts smiles on children’s faces, and is one of the bast ambassadors Edisto has.

I see your earlier posr…i missed it before I responded… Thanks for correcting the earlier comments. I always appreciate your posts that are so helpful to novice fisherman such as your recent advice to Tubby. You are a great resource, and I was just trying to say to keep it positive. If you don’t like or admire someone…don’t mention it. I know you regret you earlier comments about Ugly Duckling. Ugly boat, but great guy!!
I’ve been topwater trout fishing lately with Bob Sanders.(www.fishingwithbob.com) Great fun, and I have learned a lot from him about where and when this technique works the best.
I took Steve Wallace’s two grandsons trout fishing last Sat during the muddy moon tide…lucky to catch what we did
Let’s go fishing!!
