Am I reading correctly on the Edisto marina facebook page that they are closing ? Does that mean new management or there won’t be a Marina ?

I heard from a reliable source that it was bought out but not that it was closing…

From the few times I “had to use them” this comes as no surprise… Hope the new owners
are more fishing friendly…
$32.00 for a gallon Walmart grade oil made my ass hurt.
That could be a great place if the right folks take over. My family has had a house since the 60’s at edisto and there has been a steady decline at the marina in the last several years. Hope things change. Sincerely Wilson Family

They’re good people and I would definitely be optimistic about the outlook of the marina.
The Edisto Marina has taken on a new lessee for the ship store, ie., new management. Brian Bell will be taking over on the first of January. The marina was open last week, but I am not sure of a set schedule from now until the end of the year. We are ALL hoping for a more fisherman friendly atmosphere there. I think Brian will do a great job and be very receptive to constructive guidance from the public.
It turned into nothing but a bar the last 15 years or so. The guys working inside had no idea about jack $%$# when you went in and asked questions about what was going on offshore/ reefs etc. . This is the prevailing rule in coastal SC. You go to the OUter Banks of NC and walk into a marina or tackle shop and they can ( and most importantly WILL), tell you what is being caught, on what, where. It’s like a big secret in SC.
Wow i can’t believe the hatred for the marina on here. I grew up in the upstate of South Carolina, and vacationed at Edisto every August for a week from the time i was ten years old until now. I started out with very little saltwater fishing knowledge, but Steve at the marina was always very gracious in pointing me and my mom in the right direction. We slay the tarpon every year down there now, and i make a living as a full time fishing guide between there and Charleston, no doubt thanks to the help of my buds at the marina. Maybe i got special treatment, who knows. probably just this forum, seems like negativity is the only thing you find round these parts!
I second that. We had a family house at Edisto and for almost 20 years EVERY man that worked that marina was very helpful and kind. Piss on you naysayers.

I don’t think anyone was speaking negatively about any specific employees that were working at the marina. Those same folks (good people) will be working there some even with new management. The problems IMO stemmed from poor management and resulted in a non-renewal of the lease contract which resulted in a new lessee.
FYI I called this morning to book a slip for July and was told to call back next week as the new Marina will be renovated and fully operational. The new name is “The Marina At Edisto Beach” and their phone number is (843)631-5055. I tied calling the old “Edisto Marina” number and a woman answered and told me it is closed.

The Bell family goes way back on Edisto with a great reputation and a fishing/shrimping bacground.
I wish them well!
People will forget what you said…
People will forget what you did…
But people will never forget how you made them feel.
The old marina number has been transferred to the previous owners residence. They are saying it is closed, however they don’t mention that it has reopened by another owner. May be some hard feelings, who knows. The new owners are first class!
Could be insight as to why the previous owner’s lease was not renewed.

Sounds pretty cruddy to me. They knew that people would try the old number.
Still open to the public. $10 launch fee.
