I just saw some photos of the carnage at the weigh in. I didn’t even know this ****ty tournament existed. Im from Columbia. We should create a catch n release shark tournament that takes place on the same day as that contest every year until it puts that slaughter fest out of business.

No matter how many variables I have control over, I never expect a bite. I only hope.
Link to said carnage?

Poor little guys …i don’t get it either…must be a “Man’s Man” “Bromance” kinda thing. I’m thinking after my Black tip catch I’ll go get me one of those cool armband tattoos…hmm…barbed wire or chains?

some nice big tigers were caught- need to post these pics in all the hotels and moving guides to send people back up north
^^^^ what dockman said!!!
I saw the sign on the building when we were on the island a month ago and wondered how it would be. This angers me…and I hate sharks.

Make em clean em and eat em. Thats what i was made to do when i played silly games as a kid
^^^ Yup, I had to eat a blue Jay once when I was little, killed it with my slingshot…
No excuse for such a “tournament”. That is so blatantly wasteful and unnecessary.

What happens to the meat?
TIMES 100 OF WHAT DOCKMAN SAID. First place was only $2940 with a calcuta of $2100 small big fish tourney.
Me and some guys were talking about this yesterday. To me, every fish I have caught or will catch has a purpose. Maybe to throw on the table, or just a fun fight, so to me, this is just plain stupid. Granted, I haven’t read up on this tourney and maybe they have some sort of “research” planned for these guys. I’m hoping that they do, but I would venture to say they don’t. With that being said, you should have a plan for every fish you catch. Bait, eat, or release. And I just trademarked that phrase, so if you use it, you owe me $3.42. And is it me, or does the 3rd place pic belong on the wall of Alpha Douche Omega house?
They donate the dead to research sometimes they are at the weigh ins and do a little science for the public. Last year there was a giant sea turtle in the winning sharks stomach. Science… Definetly the real man tourney around here.

Please enlighten us on what makes this the “real man tourney” around here?

It doesn’t take a “real man” to kill something for no reason other than to make a little money.

BEER
Bait, Eat else release.
I’ll take a percentage of your $3.42.
Glad to see some agreement here. I’m open to hear both sides of a discussion, always. But in my mind, the biggest impact (best impact) a large event like this could have is promoting catch and release, especially when it involves animals like sharks that are unfairly stigmatized. I may very well keep and eat a blacktip one day, but when all eyes are on you and your organization, and you don’t use that platform to introduce young people to the ideas of conservation, well, thats a wasted opportunity to educate.

Had I gone to college, I totally would’ve rushed ALPHA DOUCHE OMEGA!!!
But yeah, I’m with Juice on this one.
No matter how much it hurts, how dark it gets, or how far you fall…you are never out of the fight.
Same concept as Big Rock right now…it’s the cool thing to do to fly a release marlin flag, unless it’s a tournament, then it’s even cooler to dry one out…follow the money trail…
It was the opposite, real sport fishers don’t kill for glory or fun.
