Maybe you didn’t read the title of this thread “end of an ERA”. ERA includes the past. I don’t even see how this is a debate. SEC has won 7 of the last 8 BCS National Championships. And they played in all 8 of them. This will be the first time in 8 years that the SEC hasn’t played in the NC and only because they got beat by Ohio State who is modeled to mimic an SEC program from which the coach won the national championship in 2008 as the coach of an SEC team. In other words, they have an SEC coach who has success modeling his team after SEC football.

What’s there to talk about?

Since when is recruiting the best possible players and coaching them to be the best possible team exclusive to the SEC? It seems to me that it was done by many teams long before the SEC was so dominant the last few years and will be done afterwards by other teams outside of the SEC. If you didn’t have sportscenter to tell you all about other teams that had “SEC speed” or they were “built like an SEC team”, you wouldn’t be running off at the mouth about it like you were on the SEC payroll. I’m so dang sick of hearing that bull **** garbage it’s not funny!

At first I just shook my head. Then I laughed. Thanks for that.

The SEC did not create some new magic formula over the past 8 years.

Or you could say Meyer brought his PAC-12 style to UF from Utah, which he developed at Bowling Green, then took the same model to OSU and is implementing it in the Big10.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Wow, anything to deflect away from the SEC Era.

Look at it this way. Maybe this will also be the end of the ACC is the worst of the power 5 conference Era.

That would be a hurtful statement if it was about the SEC to a South Carolina fan. As discussed, the Clemson fans don’t live vicariously through their conference.

Sounds like a fairytale to me… like something you’ll tell your grandkids about 30 years from now. “It was a magical time in a land far, far away…”

And if you didn’t live in lavish luxury of a bear cave, you wouldn’t deny that the SEC is the dominant conference!

The article you posted proves the point I was try to make. Did Urban bring passionate fans, 104k seat stadium and a ton of financial support to OSU? No, that’s been there all along.

The SEC coaches did not create some magical new formula to winning NC games. Its been the same for 40 years,… recruit very well, have great coaches, physical in the trenches, and play great defense.

The SEC benefited from a wave of $$$, via a blow up in CFB popularity, and a shift in demographics to the south all at the same time so they could execute the same time old recipe better any anybody else. (Florida, LSU, BAMA & Auburn).

Oregon has a ton of financial support, great fans, plays physical and recruits well. Is their coach an SEC guy?

If you think that, then you are in for a rude awakening. You know as well as I do that you can make numbers say anything you want them to…

I make a living on numbers and statistics... So, yes, I do think that...

These charts are not really open for interpretation… These aren’t the kind of numbers that you can twist to fit an argument. They are just facts. Turn a blind eye to them if you want, but “facts is facts”…

Are you trying to make my argument for me?

I never said that “all good coaches were from the SEC”. But SEC is STACKED at the coaching level. Of course financial support helps.

And nobody ever said that the only good teams are in the SEC. Of course there are other great teams out there. But if you look at the conference as a whole, the Big 10 is horrible, and the SEC is full of tough to beat teams.

Ohio State should roll throug

PS, By my count, Clemson didn’t beat a top 25 ranked team all year…

Hey Skinneej, a valiant effort but some people simply can’t see the truth when looking through hate-filled glasses.
