Epic day folly pier, 3 King mackerel!

Well as alot of people know it has been slow fishing out at Folly lately, but with the finally cooling down water temps fishing has lit on fire. Yesterday, tons of trout, sheepshead, blackdrum, red drum, and even several king mackerel were all landed in the afternoon. The king bite was on fire with over 10 strikes between only 7 fishermen. 3 were landed and all studs. Izzy with a 27, man from columbia with a 31, and myself with a 37. Congratulations to everyone on an awesome day of fishing!

It was friggin’ awesome day. All that time and effort we have put into this, finally paid off. Still stoked.

Ya know, it must be nice living in Neverneverland. Remind me to come visit you, when I need a break from reality.

By far best day of fishing I have ever had in Charleston, unfortunately most can’t appreciate it since they aren’t oversized carp.

Congrats.

Man, that is awesome. And from a pier.

Good job Kevin. Right place, right time, right presentation and bam! Don’t you love it when a plan comes together.

I can appreciate it. I want to catch kingfish.

Haha @Peapod I am just over the fascination with Red drum, I love targeting the slots on light tackle and even attempting(poorly) to catch them on fly. I just do not understand the love for larger ones that just don’t provide much sport that’s all. That is not for here or there tho, this is all about a day this pier hasn’t seen in decades! We struggled keep bait in water, kings were stacked around pier, almost as if waiting for us slide out live pogies to them. Within minutes of hitting water the baits were getting skyrocketed by these mercury missiles. Watching 30+lb fish come 5+ ft out of the water is not an easy sight to describe. To think though, the season is not even over!

“Man from Columbia” haha preciate the love kevin! Heck of a day, I will never forget it. Loved being a part of such an incredible day!!

Oh and congrats again Izzy!!! WE FINALLY DID IT!

Lol I did not know what your name was on here =P

"Man from Columbia", at least he didn't say. The dude who just off the bus from Ohio, who showed up to fish for walleye and caught a king.

Seriously, had a great time and we did it.

You must not know about the carp in the Reservoir, they double the size of some bull reds in Charleston, and fight just as hard LOL

…And here I was thinking that people flyfishing for native trout were the only elitists in the fishing game. Great catch! Enjoy it, but did diminishing the “carp” that others enjoy catching make it more memorable for you?

No matter how many variables I have control over, I never expect a bite. I only hope.

I’m not diminishing anything. If they think 35inch reds are a challenge I’m missing something. That’s all

Respectfully…you guys had a good day at the pier. Those are some very nice Kings, no doubt, Congrats, Great job! But let’s not get it all twisted.
Seems as though that lack of response from us inexperienced, low skill, Drum huntin’ bait soakers comes across as disrepecful. And SURE, soaking bait is stupid easy any maroon can do it. Have you considered though maybe some of us may have already spent counsless hours, days, months, years even decades chasing fish? So as your buddy posted, I enjoy soaking bait…very relaxing and happy-happy! Sorry for the no response

If you catch more Kings this weekend, don’t post it! Or I’ll have to run to the beach house in North Myrtle, dig out the trolley rod, stop and get some rubber bands and clothes pins (think I still have some slider rings) and meet you on Sunday!

Good job guys!

Like i said before everyone is out to have fun! I think every just needs to respect other people’s forms for Fishing
