Well this weekend will go down as the 2 of the best days many have ever experienced at Folly Pier. With heavy onshore winds and a strong tide we saw many species of fish and cleaner water than most can remember. Some of the rare species include Barracuda, several cobia, large spadefish, bonita, a small gag goruper…lol, sea robins, thousand of hardtails and cigar minnows. The fishing was insane hot from sunrise to sunset, hundreds of spanish, bluefish, trout and pompano were being caught from the shallows to end of pier nonstop on gotchas, live bait, and any jig you could throw. It is hard desribe watching random tourist limit out on spanish mackerel and trout within an hour, something most us locals have trouble doing 90% of the trips we make.
Hopefully a few on here were out there can chime in because I am still in disbelief of how good a weekend we had. I am still taking inventory of prob losing over 20 gotchas on spanish and cuda and going through pictures and videos haha. The best highlights were myself going 1 out of 4 on tarpon beaching the only one I could manage keep glued for more than a few jumps. Several other anglers had run ins with few of the the prehistoric giants but similar to my other 2 fish they couldnt keep them on the line. It is quite hard afterall as we were kingfishing at the end with light mono/wire and smaller trebles.
The bite is still hot with the cleaner water being nearly to the beach and more bait than I have ever witness in my life, I recommend get out there and enjoy it while can.
Truly epic weekend, was there, too. My little girl is still talking about all the blue runners she caught, the spainish and trout on gotchas brought over the rail. Truly awesome. And congrats on the tarpon. Already getting the weapons of mass destruction ready.
Ya know, it must be nice living in Neverneverland. Remind me to come visit you, when I need a break from reality.
Well started at end of pier but i agree this felt much more fulfilling then when I have caught from a boat. I swam out to bout chest high water holding its tail until it was strong enough pull away from me

Kinda tough bowing to the king when you're both at the same level. What a great catch and release...one tough fish.
WOW! Had no clue people actually caught tarpon there. I knew they came around at times but the fact you managed to get him to shore is crazy. Awesome report and now you’ve got me wanting to drive out there. Ha.
Congrats! Once you jumped on e or two tarpon did you switch anything up, or just keep as if you were fishing for kings? I bet that pier is gonna see a nice little spike in business, judging by the crowd!
We get alot of tarpon strikes out there surprisingly. I was using a live hardtail (blue runner) for bait. We generally don’t switch up gear or rigging, tarpon are nice but we were targeting king so the size 3 wire and small trebles were still on there. Usually we get a few jumps and something breaks, but this tarpon being slightly smaller than most we hook out there I was able keep him pinned and get to beach.
