If you’re lucky enough to be fishing, you’re lucky enough.

I thought it was a cobia tree myself but I wasn’t sure . You other guys need to get out more.

Has anyone seen any bait showing up in the usual places yet?

Water was still pretty cold when I was out two weeks ago

Mine aren’t blooming yet. My peach tree is though. I’m more inland though. It’s usually a few weeks after mine are in full bloom before the reports start showing up. We’ve got a trip planned though.
Saw the newsletter said schoolie dolphin are being caught around Florida, so lay those two migrations on top of each other and hopefully the first weekend in May will be a good trip for us.

I know its still early… The board was pretty dead just giving us something to talk about.

Was out the other day and the water was around 60 61 degrees

That’s because we catch them for a few weeks before we start making reports. It keeps the crowds down

Thanks Kane. That’s almost warm enough. Give it 2 weeks and it will be on.
Pecan trees are somewhat more reliable than dogwood blooms. When leaves come out on the pecans, the cobia are here. When blooms come on the dogwoods, they might or might not be, but it’s getting real close

Lol Usually when its quiet around the end of march to the first 2 weeks on April its because 1 or 2 are being caught. Then the reports come out and the armada shows up and broad river looks like the sandbar at beaufort water festival. I have a pecan tree in my back yard as well… I’ll have to give it a look tomorrow when I get home . I didn’t get to do much cobia fishing last year since my second daughter was born on March 5th. Shes 1 now so maybe I can disappear a few more times this year. My oldest is 3… I know shes gonna have a blast catching bait!

It’s a sap-ling.
If you’re lucky enough to be fishing, you’re lucky enough.
I’m aware of it the calm before the storm. I may even relunctantly admit that I’m part of the armada really, but I only keep a few fish a year. I am unfortunately geographically challenged relative to those of you that are lucky enough to live in the low country.

Up here in the upstate we call it a “striper in the river tree”
What ever you call it, it sure is an indecater or things to come!
Thank the LORD!!
LOL… I just got SurfFishLife’ post about the sap-ling. haha… that’s a good one.
“Lock em’ down”
Sorry but I call bogus. I fished near one of these cobia trees all day yesterday at the Hatchery and didn’t catch anything but allergies.
My blueberries, pears, and azaleas are almost in full swing… but the dogwoods are yet to do it… when they do I hope it’s warm enough for shorts and flip flops. I just don’t find it fun drinking an adult soda, fighting sharks, and watching butt holes bunching up on you when when you can’t be comfortable in shorts. Something about warm weather seems to easy the nerves.
