Look man, like I already said on this issue and at countless DNR meeting pertaining to dog hunting, I’m all for any legal means of hunting that is done safely, responsibly, and within the bounds of the law. I’ve been on dog hunts with people that “do it right.” It’s not my thing, nothing more nothing less. Responsible dog hunters’ worst enemy are the “rogues.” Fact of the matter is rogue dog hunters are the ones that will result in dog hunting becoming a thing of the past. Rogues will have all dog hunters talking about “remember when we used to be able to run dogs.” No other group, individual, political party, or religious organization is doing more damage to and shortening the life span of dog hunting more than rogues, period.
I wish all dog hunters faught as hard to tighten their own ranks as they do fighting still hunters asking for dogs to be kept off of their property. Maybe then the outcome wouldn’t look so gloom. As it is, I feel it’s too little too late.
First off, congrats on the new counting skills. Your parents must be proud.
Second, your way of thinking would imply you’d have to send people to law school to understand why they shouldn’t break laws. Why is posting “No trespassing” signs not enough for people to understand they shouldn’t trespass? As a child, I didn’t have to know if someone else’s front door was locked or not before knocking on it to gain entrance. A gate on someone else’s property didn’t have to be locked before I would contact the land owner to gain access. I know I’m talking about the long lost art of using common sense but that’s wht it is, common sense.
Earn it everyday…
So, what you are saying is, you expect criminals to read signs and obey the law. How is that working out for you? Hell, why even have locks on your gates and your house if you have signs up? Sounds to me that anyone who wants to rob your house should just read your sign, "Hey, I don't have locks on my house, but this is a robbery free zone, so please go rob someone else's house"...
Your logic is compelling… I mean like Spock from Star Trek kind of solid…
Like I said, I have “legs to stand on” when it comes to defending my house. I welcome any and all would be burglars to enter my house unlawfully. I’m not afforded such a luxury when it comes to keeping trespassers off of my property. One can dream though…

archer, this is actually finally a quality post from you. I couldn't agree more with this statement. My purpose here is really more pointed towards the SCARCHER220's of the world, who would love nothing more that to see all dog hunting die off since "all dog hunters are the same". Well, that, and to see who leaves their gates unlocked...

Interesting side story about locks and gates… I faced an interesting issue one time… My friend leased some land just before hunting season. The owner originally wanted $10/acre, but my friend negotiated him down to $8. They signed the lease contract with him and they were off to hunting. I paid my dues but kept putting off hunting… Well, just about the time the rut came in, the owner said that he was going to pull our lease! He made up some bull**** reason and in the contract it did say that he could terminate our lease for any cause, but that he had to give us a 30 day warning. He essentially told us that we had to quit hunting immediately and that he was going to keep our money! He actually went and changed the locks on the gates. We suspect that someone else came in and offered him his $10/acre. So, I was pretty pissed off. I hadn’t even hunted the place yet. I called DNR to figure what my rights were. I flat out asked DNR, “Hey this contract says he has to give me 30 days notice. What is my legal right to hunt this property even though he has explicitly told me that I am not allowed to?” DNR basically said, in a nutshell, “If you have a lease in your hand that says you are legally entitled to be there, I do not believe I could write you a ticket”. He went on to give me the full disclaimer, “Hey, I am not telling you that you should do it. All I am saying is that I don’t see that I could charge you with anything”. But, he was VERY CLEAR about the gates. He said that under no circumstances should we cut a lock to get back in there. He said that was clearly a violation. I can’t remember the exact charge, but it was something equivalent to breaking an entering. I asked him about me walking around the gate, and he repeated, “If you have a lease agreement in your hand that says you have the legal right to be there, I don’t see how I could charge you with anything”.
So, lock your gate, or don’t lock your gate… All I am saying is that a lock offers more protection and leg to stand on
Am I more or less of a trespasser if I walk around a locked gate without any posted “no trespassing signs” or walking past several “no trespassing” signs?
To me, one doesn’t scream “you’re not welcome here” more than the other. Again, just my take on it.
I guess I just put too much faith in the common sense of others and my own powers of persuasion.
Earn it everyday…
1) 80% of the people in the world do not have common sense. You should know this. 2) To persuade someone, you have to be present. 3) "Persuasion" is not always the best option when guns are involved. Sometimes, things escalate quickly.

Nobody is going to walk a mile up into your club to catch a pack of dogs if your gate is locked. Dog hunters do not like to be far from their dog box when the pack is headed their way. Take it from someone who has been on hundreds of dog hunts...
I can tell you have had your experience through clubs and not on private property.
That is definitely true. Is killing a deer on private property somehow different than a club? I bet the club I hunt on has been around longer than you have owned your property.
what I am saying is: doggers on a “dog club” tend to be more reasonable than the renegades who have no lease… Why is that so hard for you to understand???

" It is what it is".
Hard to understand because of your ambiguity maybe? You did say this:
“Dog hunters are dog hunters… plain and simple. Doesn’t matter if you are in a CLUB and stay there or dump on someone else’s property. You are still a dog hunter”
In any language, that paints the picture that you are stereotyping… Is it just that you don’t understand yourself maybe?
Let’s be honest. You are a bow hunter. You could give a rat’s ass about dog hunting. If you got news today that all dog hunting was abolished, you would probably be pitching a tent in your pants. Then, you realize, “Hey, I better try to make it seem like I care about other forms of hunting, or people will realize that I am just being selfish”… And then you hop on board the “it’s just the renegades” bandwagon. But that’s not how you really feel inside. You don’t even like the "r

You have a right to think whatever you like, but I don’t give a rats azz if you dog hunt as long as: YOU STAY OFF MY PROPERTY AND AWAY FROM ME… BY THE WAY I HAVE 12
