The timing is is definitely suspect. But the article on espn said he was never charged or questioned? I dont understand that.

This is BS, like Duke Lacross! It looks like TPD closed the case, but some one at the State’s Attorney Office has reopened it. Winston has not been interviewed (all of this happened in Dec 2012), and has never been named as a suspect. The “suspect” is 5’8"-5’10" and about 250lbs. Winston is 6’4"-6’5" and about 215. This should blow over, and whoever has slandered this kid should be held accountable.

Fully agree the timing is suspect, but the AG’s office didn’t reopen it. If they just got referred the case today, they have no choice but to take it seriously. Their job is prosecuting crimes, and it’s their duty to thoroughly evaluate a case that is referred to them. Anything less would be sloppy.
The alleged victim identified Winston as her attacker but did so nearly a month after first reporting the alleged assault to FSU campus police, sources told ESPN.com. FSU police referred the case to Tallahassee police because the alleged crime took place at an off-campus apartment.
So that is much worse than I thought. I bet when this is over someone on the TPD will be fired. No way it should take this long.

Regardless of the outcome, it sounds like there needs to be some serious improvement with how the Tallahassee PD conducts its business.
Wow, it sound alot like a cover up from their standpoint. And the it sure looks like the PD at the least was negligent.
This will all come out in the end. There would have to be documents of all he said/she said stuff. especially the lawyer to pd and pd to lawyer.

I sure hope they don’t jump to conclusions too fast here. Read the comments at the end. One guy mentions another situation like this where the guy spent 5 years in prison and another 5 on probation only to record the accuser saying she lied and it wasn’t rape. She was ordered to pay 2.6 million, but the guy was out of his chance at a lot more than that in the NFL.

I remember a few cases like they are referring to. However just because it has happened doesn’t mean she is lying. Also remember in Dec of last year, very few people knew him. Even in the spring of this year he was competing for the starting position.
I’m not saying he did anything wrong, but it is not looking good for him of the PD. But here is the reality, if this was you or me we would have been arrested WITHOUT the DNA sample.

True FISH, but they have to handle now with care due to the high level of scrutiny they are under now. Definitely some fishy things going on with this. just have to wait it out and see what happens.
Agree RWL. I said early on that the PD is going to be in trouble. How can someone be identified as a suspect, with rape kit DNA, and the PD not at the very least take a DNA sample.
With that said, it only indicates that sexual relations took place…Not rape
