Just a thought ....

Would any of you like to get together this year for a group fishing session? It would be awesome to meet you guys and learn from the hardcore locals. Not asking for people to reveal their spots, but bring knowledge from reading the beach, rigs, lworking lures in the surf, casting techniques…etc.

I like the way you think James. Always up for some fishing and meeting new people. I have been fortunate enough to fish with quite a few people from CF and they all have been great folks. On a side note, you are famous:smiley: I went to Florida last summer for a mini vacation. I looked into a surf fishing guide and stumbled upon a well known" pro" named Pompano Rich. He has allot of You tube videos out. I didn’t get to fish with him, but we talked on the phone for a while. I told him where I was from and he asked if I knew James Web. I told him as a matter of fact I do:smiley: He said he knew you through the competition caster and rod maker Tommy Farmer. He said you were a great guy. Your “street cred” reaches far and wide. If the likes of Pompano Rich is singing your praises in sunny Florida, you have done good. It’s a small world:smiley: Love to get out there and sling some bait with you, if we are lucky Maybe Dparker and some others will jump on board. That Parker fellow knows some stuff. Question is where? The area I fish has been very slow the last season or two, with just a few trips being productive. Take care Sir.

Yes sir…Mr Parker would be a great asset for this meeting. He has improved my skills over the years. I still don’t see how it’s possible to fish within 2 feet of him and he is catching everything while nothing wants my bait lol

As for the location , I hope that some of you will help with that decision. I will be driving from Myrtle Beach so any decent spot is fine with me.

Pompano Rich is awesome. That guy knows how to catch fish. If you are looking for a surf charter in SE Florida, he is the guy to hire. I have a lot of his pompano jigs and he has given me a wealth of knowledge.

Let’s make it happen, people. I know a few people that are Interested in Surf Fishing, but they don’t know what to ask. This would be great to have a group of people with different approaches to help others learn our sport.

I would definitely be interested. We just moved in July and I have fished freshwater my entire life. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Interested as well. Post up a date

I will let this topic continue until the end of the month. I hope that we get more participants, but if not, we will still get together and have a small seminar. Thanks everyone for your interest.

depending on date I would sooooo be in. I haven’t been out for a bit and I need to badly. Just the other day, i had some ebay bucks to spend so I bought enough lead for the year

I’d be in for a fishing day as well! It also would be cool to get together for a drink sometime and talk fishing and meet while it’s slow. I ran into Pete at Folly this October and really enjoyed the conversation and he definitely taught me a few things about baiting for big reds.

Great to see all the new folks posting on the forum. Plenty to learn on this site. It is a great resource and helps shorten the learning curve dramatically. James you better get your act together, looks like your on:smiley:In case y’all didn’t know James is a competition caster. Just to have him share what he has learned would be a great start. We will round up a few old and new salts to help contribute. Hopefully we can learn from one another, meet a new friend or two and most important of all try to catch a fish. Roach 86 it was allot of fun meeting you out at Folly. I hope I didn’t talk your ear off:smiley: I never got the chance to fish it last year, and was scouting the beach trying to figure things out. Maybe we can put together a trip or two with some of the boy’s this year. I’ll bring my poles this time. I know a few folks that would be interested, from what I hear Papa is itching. P.S. don’t count March out. The best day I had last year was March 10 on a point bordering an inlet. Inlet on the left/ocean on the right. Where the two met in the middle had a rip that produced as they came together. Dparker also caught his “Monster Red” in his avatar in March. It will probably be slow, but sometimes things line up and chit happens. If you ain’t on the beach, no chance it will. Y’all take care.

So set a date and place, as long as it’s NOT Folly :stuck_out_tongue:. You know I’m there. Always need another chance to outfish Pete, webster and Papa, and in the same day…will be EPIC!

JK about Folly, was my go-to beach for many years.

Lol
I fished Folly a few months ago and caught a bunch of whiting. It was fun #128515;
Does Saturday, March 16 sound good for everyone? Folly Beach is fine with me or if anyone has a better suggestion, we can meet somewhere else. I will try to get a few things from some of my sponsors to give away for the event

March 16 looks like an average day. March 23 has a higher tidal coefficient, closer to a big moon, higher tides = more water movement + falling tide most of the day, no slack tide to fish through.
But yeah lets put it together.

ANY BODY SIGNED UP TO BE THE EVENT PHOTOG ? I MIGHT COULD SHOW UP ,LMK

I’m fine with the 23rd. Bring your A-game because I plan on catching more fish than you lol

Sounds good to me. I use my iPhone for pics and video

Saw these at the Miami Boat Show this week. They make good products (have a light backpack from last year) and priced very reasonable. Although I haven’t used mine they claim very good results. This backpack has a roll down opening with three buckles to hold it closed and is plenty big for ice, drinks, bait and tackle. I wore it around the show and it was comfortable.

Whatever date y’all come up with on the weekends I’m good. I do think March is going to be slow unless we get lucky and catch a good day. James I will give you a hand with whatever you need, just PM me with anything you want me to do. And someone needs to tell that Dparker fellow it’s not a competition:smiley: I’m coming for the door prizes and all you can eat peanut M&M’s:smiley: I also second the nomination on George if he can make it, but realize it’s a long haul for him. I’ll holler at Werson, Harry and a few others to see if they have caught wind of this, because I’m not so sure they read the forum as much as we do. Folly sounds good, I need to learn more about that area, maybe even Stevo will come hang with us for the day, It would be nice to meet him.

Looks like Harry has seen this, we typed at the same time:smiley:

you tell em, Pete. That Parker guy does not have good manners lol always looking for a fight

To all of those that plan on coming…Are there any specific questions or concerns that you may have so we can be prepared to answer or demonstrate at the meet?
