1st. Lumping all USC’s great fan base into the student section is just stupid. The people that work for a living and pay for their tickets, stay. The rest of the fan base is very strong. The student section…not so much
2nd. There is not excuse for it in my mind. They get a free ticket. Stay. Maybe USC needs to stop giving them away
brings back old memories of Carolina getting the s h i t kicked out of them, and everyone headed for the lot.
today, they are leaving for the alcohol, drugs, and sex.
Agree..Who wants to sit in traffic for 2.5 hours when you can leave and get the above mentioned? J/K...it is sad..but..we have never been busted for lying about our attendance #s like that upstate school has
C’mon Man… That stadium is a long way from 5 Points in a really crappy section of a horrible town, plus those students are all working at being future AA members. They have to go get their drink on.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Or all the Carolina fans pouring out of there in 2003, Clemson had the place all to themselves. What’s the point? Your football team is at the apex of winning and program history yet the students aren’t staying past half-time.

I stayed for the entire game, didn’t get back to Charleston until after 2am and had to be at the marina at 7:30 for work. I can understand some folks leaving early to get back home at a reasonable hour. The student section is full of STUDENTS that obviously have social agendas to keep up with. For a 7pm game that means they have been partying for a good while and then go into the game where they start to lose their buzz and want to keep it going. We are in a technological age that allows for TV’s to be setup at Tailgates which means the game can still be watched in the parking lots where the alcohol is. To be honest if Vandy hadn’t of scored 10 points before halftime the stadium would have been even emptier.
I don’t know, so can you re-enter the stadium once you’ve left at half time? It seems like I heard on the radio that you can’t at USC. I know you can at Clemson. That may have a lot to do with it.
You used to be able to leave and re enter the stadium, after 9-11 things changed and have never gone back to where they were. I also think if fans were allowed on the field after the game like they are in the ACC and other conferences people may be more inclined to stay around for that experience.

When’s the last time you’ve had a conversation with a 19 year old? If they make it more than three minutes without looking at thier phone, consider it a win. 18, 19, and 20 year olds today do NOT go to the game to support thier team. Its a social event. Fritz is dead right, once the booze starts wearing off, not many of those kids like to stick around.

Sure I have. I got a 19yo nephew that goes to Sakkerliner because he couldn’t get into Clemson. I browbeat that boy all the time trying to get him to grow up some. Of course I don’t think he went to the ball game, not much of a football fan and less of a chicken booster.
If you can’t get the student body supportive and excited about the best time in the program’s history then you aren’t going to be successful for long.
