Just out of curiosity…what is thinking behind two access hatches for the same forward box? Why not one big hatch?

I didn’t plan on it originally, but when I realized how I could integrate the old livewell and raise the drain height to get outside of the fuel cell area, the benefits I saw outweighed the extra work. A lot of this project has been that way. I change plans as I’m going when I see a way to make something benefit me when using or maintaining the boat in the future.

Wes,
Good stuff, man. If I may ask:
How much do you estimate you’ll have into this project in material costs and man-hours when all’s said and done?
Hindsight being 20/20, would you do it again, or would you just try and get a deal on a boat that didn’t require so much elbow grease?
Regardless, unbelievable progress from the first pictures to now. That thing is gonna be SICK when you finish!!!

I will tell you about the finances when you come fishing on Mojo with me.
The time put into this has already been 10x more than I expected. It’s been a combination of some speed bumps, $ issues largely stemming from someone ripping me off and stealing from me, and me finding stuff I didn’t like the deeper I dug into the boat. I will have to look back through this thread later and remember the time spent and try to get an estimate.
Everything has its price, but I have really come to the conclusion that even if I have a bigger boat or this one sees little use some day in the distant future, then I do not want to sell it. I would rather let a family member or good friend maintain and use this boat or something like that.
Someone might easily pay what I’ve “got in it,” but nobody will ever be able to pay for the time and attention to detail I’ve tried to put in. Have spent more time educating myself by reading or listening to others than I have spent physically working on it.
Everything happens for a reason, and when I think back to January and look at where I will be I think I am ending up better off in the end from a knowledge standpoint and final product standpoint.
Would do it again, but I’d rather do it 5-7 years ago. I was in better shape and had more time. I couldn’t affo
Not trying to be a smarta$$ but I don’t think you can put a price on this project. If your wife has stood by you thru this whole ordeal, you’ve built yourself more than just a strong boat.
How much is that worth?
Definitly worth it in the long run for sure. I built my Whaler some 28 odd years ago from scratch and still have it and use it to this day, couldn’t ever imagine not having it.
Plus, the only thing more fun then using boats is working on them!
Keep it up Wes, looking great!

God is great, Beer is good, People are crazy
I can say after 44 years of marrage and working on over 12 boats during that time you owe your wife a good trip of her choice! Not to many ladys can or will put up with that! Name of my new boat LAST STRAW II says it all!
Good for you wes…my wife would be so happy if there was no more boat. I think if i got her in some fish her feelings might change.
I look forward to your weekly updates and posts.
Check your pms.

Haha. I got some of the list done. Big wad of pics later when I have time to post.
Went and visited my friend Edisto-fisher last night. What a come back story. Down and out, but you can’t beat his attitude and faith. Maybe if enough people ask, he will come back here. At any rate, he is doing well. I want him to be on this boat’s maiden fishing trip. If you don’t know, he had an accident where he wasn’t expected to even walk again. The dude worked and never gave up. Can’t tell anything happened to him now, and he is back to his old self helping his friends and making sure they’re smiling.

Awesome!
When you are done, you should stick all the photos into Windows Movie Maker and make a video with a 1 second scroll on each photo. This has been an awesome watch.
