Muschamp On The Hot Seat - Already?

I read an interesting article the other day about Muschamp, and firing his OC. The crux of it was he was pressured by administration to ditch him. The article went on to compare his stats his first two years as head coach at Florida, and his team stats at SC the first two years. They are eerily similar. I mean very similar. It also said there are likely to be other changes coming. And went on to say if Muschamp doesn’t do the tighten up this year, he could be toast.

Supposedly, administration and boosters are very concerned with the East being at it’s historical worse, and SC not even being competitive, rumblings and grumblings are building momentum. There is no more “honeymoon”. The fact that Fla and Tenn (and A&M) weren’t competitive this year, and how Kirby Smart has taken GA to a NC competitor in the same amount of time Muschamp has been at SC is very alarming.

Recruiting still sux. There really isn’t a foreseeable future to winning the East. Fla and Tenn have new coaches that will inject those programs with good recruits and enthusiasm. As usual, SC is locked out of just about everything, and stuck here trying to recruit against CU.

Sorry for the long winded post, but I thought this is an interesting twist I haven’t heard.

This is delicious.
Let’s see how good Smart is once Richt’s players are gone.

After being released, a lot of fish die, but a lot of them live also.

LOL Was this one of the tabloids at the grocery store check out or by one of the posters on tigernet?

I will not argue about the similarities of the 2 schools under him, as far as numbers. But you have to look at what he was given at both school…hint - it was not much. With that said, I was not happy with the muschamp hire at first. I was even more unhappy about the OC. So I am glad he is gone regardless of why.
Recruiting is better than has been the previous few years.
The Smart comment shows ignorance. Smart took over an already winning program.

You don’t think Kirby is pulling good recruits on his own with a NC run??

Smart is recruiting at a high level plus he can coach, one or both of those things are lacking in Muschamp. Two years and they’re looking for another coach to pick up the pieces and try again. Muschamp is a good DC but not a HC.

Who didn’t see this coming?

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

A program like USC has nothing to complain about with Muschamp, yet. He inherited a program on the decline with a disjointed locker room and USC was losing on the recruiting trail. All he’s done is recruit better than USC has seen in the past few years, won twice as many games his first year as HC than the program won the previous year, took USC to a bowl game his first year, won more games his second year as HC than his first year, taking team to a better bowl in his second year than the first year and recruiting continues to improve. Muschamp was hired in December of 2015 so he was behind the curve on the recruiting trail from the start but USC’s recruiting classes have been improving. He’s still playing with a lot of “Spurrier’s” players. True, Roper’s offensive scheme has seemed to fail yet again. And just as the HC should do when things aren’t getting the desired results, Muschamp fired him.

It’s way too early to pass judgement on Muschamp as the HC of USC. Like I said, it’s not like he inherited a program that was at the top of rankings and expecting to play for championships every year. After year 4 or 5, I think it would be fair to pass judgement but until then, it’s nothing more than biased/subjective verbal diarrhea.

Same can be said for Kirby Smart, except he inherited a 9-10 win team with good players in-house and good recruits committed. That said, he is recruiting VERY well but to say he’s done what he’s done all on his own is again, merely biased/subjective verbal diarrhea.

Spurrier left Muschamp a Rubik’s Cube with most of the colorful stickers pulled off. Richt left Smart a Rubik’s Cube that was 2/3 completed. Big difference.

“…be a man and PM me.”

8-4 in the regular season? It took them a few games to get the dumpster rolling, but towards the end what were their expectations? Beat #1 Clemson? Maybe the boosters need to just have a reality check of where they think they should be.

Has recruiting ever been tough for UGA? I'm guessing this was another piece on Taternet that hoppy was reading. The cocks were projected by some to finish 3-9 this past season. They finish 8-4 and apparently Muschamp is on the hot seat. Ok.

Anyone want to bet that Brownell gets fired before Muschamp. And for those Clemson fans out there, Brownell is your basketball coach.

Wow. You’re really hanging it all out, aren’t you? You’re a wild man.

My guess is Hoppy is sitting back getting a good chortle that people actually responded to this supposed “article” he read. He probably made all of this up this morning just for his entertainment, but if he did not make it all up, he probably got it from some guy on Tigernet that is “in the know”

Will Clemson have another press conference announcing he isn’t being fired? Who does that?

Yes but Clemson fans only acknowledge them when/if they have a good season.

“…be a man and PM me.”

Facts are facts, stats are stats, and numbers are numbers. They just state what they are. Yeah, Muschamp started with garbage, and he’s won some games. But look at the teams he’s won against, by how much, those teams offensive and defensive stats, and their records / strength of schedule. It ain’t anything to be excited about. He squeaked by a bunch of awful teams.

And as far as Kirby Smart being left with “all that”. What did Muschamp inherit at Fla, and what did he do with that?

Recruiting? Having people on the road and on the phone is an uptick from Spurrier recruiting. Who’s the claim to fame this year and next year?

The point is, and remains, Muschamps stats at SC mirror his stats at Fla. People have noticed. Unless things change drastically, the $$ to be don’t intend on being 5 years down the road and trying to put out another fire!

Just checking. I thought the gave it up when they hired Brownell. Makes me a little nastalgic for Cliff Ellis.

Chump is doing better than I expected but his results are similar to his UF days. IMO most of the reason he’s doing better is how bad the East is. Those fools actually thought that 8 wins meant they could hang with Clemson. If Chump can find a good OC he will be about as good as USC can ask for. If he can’t they will can him soon.

Smart is doing just fine. He’s recruiting very well and has no threats in his division. Mullen at UF is the only team that has much of a shot at competing in the east right now.

A lot of talent at UT already if Pruitt is any kind of coach.
