Did a little surf fishing this weekend. Here is one of the biggest out of the 6. My girl’s first BIG red!

I’ll be the first to ask- which beach? I’ve had no luck lately on Folly…
can’t tell ya what beach but they are out there thick right now caught 6 and lost many more saw tarpon jumping 100 feet of of beach!! Great weekend!!
I think I know that spot. Did yall fish it last Sunday as well?

no last friday we did but only caught three that were a little smaller. RED OCTOBER BABY!!!
Nice fish! The clue you gave us about the tarpon indicates the beach is north of Charleston…
My guess would be north end of IOP.

One of the things I find very odd about the fishing community here, is the secrecy regarding fishing spots and other related information.
In the gulf and in south LA (where I moved from), people are very open about spots and are all about sharing information… Here is Very different.
You’ve got freaking teenagers blocking out the back ground in pictures and people not even revealing what beach they are on. IT’S A FREAKING MASSIVE BODY OF LAND!!! It’s not like you are fishing a hidden pond on some golf course.
I have met some really nice people who are very helpful and direct you to productive ares. Maybe it’s just this board…

Not sully but have fished there before smaller reds not like this area. and jnaIl923 I didn’t bur anything it’s the Atlantic Ocean if u were smart u could look at the shrimp boat in the background and find out we’re he fishes from and know exactly where we are evidently u don’t do much research before u speak jus sayin!! And yes it is a big beach but don’t want u sitting there when I bring my family there to catch the slobs that we did. This spot has been in a select few for years and I’m not letting some guy from Louisiana take it it is a very special place that u can’t get to by land so there is my knowledge to you jnail923!!

I haven’t had an issue catching fishing. Bull Reds are every where in the surf this time of year, I was just pointing out something that happens on here all the time.
I fish on FB and have had lots of success lately. Huge beach so I have no problem sharing details.
Just funny that people think if you say what beach you are on, people will magically show up on that exact spot. Kind of ridiculous if you think about it.
No hard feelings but I just don’t like to announce where I catch my fish cause I don’t want people sitting there when I get there. We only have a few weeks of this and from what I see on this forum it is definitely one of the biggest fish posted on here and we do this every year. I have hundreds of these fish on my phone but just became a member of this website just thought I would show my woman’s beast!!
Good for you for putting your girl on the fish. Either your daughter is really small or her first bull is really big. What was length on that fish? That’s a nice one.
We have been tearing up the tarpon just north of there, so not surprising you saw them on display. You should try free lining some live bait out in the breakers there, you never know you might hook up on a silver minnow. Would be a pita to get it to shore though.

Thats my girlfriend and she is small but the fish was 58 inches about fifty pounds pretty good for her first bull. We had live bait as well and did produce some good fish but not the silver king maybe next time.
