THESE ARE NOT KIDS, ONE KID AND A BUNCH OF OLD MEN USING THE KID AS A EXCUSE TO DRAG THAT POOR LIL SAIL IN THE BOAT AND MOLEST HIM LIKE THAT POOR FISH WONT SLOW DOWN UNTIL HE GETS BACK TO GUETEMALA. THAT IS IF HE ISNT BELLY UP ON A WEEDLINE. THE OWNER OF THAT BOAT IS A FISH KILLER NO RESPECT FOR ANY FISH. THEM BOYS ARE YANKEES THEY PROBABLY EAT THAT FISH.
Splitd,
Are you just wishing that I am a 15 year old because you are attracted to little boys?

The fish was out of the water for nearly 10 sec, and the blood was because of the hook in the corner of its mouth. i dont see what the problem is 15ftlover.
also, HAVANADAYDREAMER is just tired of people like “the little lover” talking **** from behind a keyboard. We caught the boats 1st sail, and my first sail (call me green if you want, i am 17 but i have been doing it 11) just wanted a picture and back in the water. and let me tell you that it didnt float off, it kicked off.
Tail, if you are 17 and HAVANA is 15,how long have y’all been drinking and smoking?
BTW, I was your age once myself, and I’ll have to admit, even though its hard to talk about publicly,I HAVE ALSO ABUSED SAILFISH.I even brought one in the boat and not only took pictures of him but took a tape measure and measured him before I released him. I feel better now.

HAVANAWETDREAM, If you “little boys” don’t understand the correct way to release
sharks do an outstanding job keeping our oceans clean, so please do not kill sharks
one time we lost a dolphin after we gaffed and hitted it’s head with the billy bat, we tougth it will show up around the boat, but never made it back, after few minutes decided to resume trolling, so I’m pretty sure the dolphin was not in critical codition and survived…
FV
We did the same thing. Only it wasn't a dolphin. It was a guy who owed me gas money from the trip before.
Is anyone going to at least make fun of the kid for being a red head and not putting on any sunscreen? What about wearing green glasses offshore, or wearing a SCWA t-shirt? There is a flavor savor in the picture and the guy has a pair of non-matching UFC gloves in which he used to bloody up the side of the sail’s face. Dammit people. There are so many more things to poke fun of on this thread and instead, you pick on the guy for breaking a law and posting photographic evidence on the internet for thousands of witnesses to see! You guys are slipping.
Left D.I. Marina @ 3:45 Started straight out in 170’ and had action right away with some nice Hoos but only managed one out of three. All fish were deep off of the down riggers 60’ down and 35’ down. Then the trash fish got us. We pushed on out to 600’ and stumbled upon a pocket of Corys. Boats pushed them away so we came back into 200’ and got covered up with “Eyeball” special daysavers. Had two more mystery fish off of the downriggers again that each ran off 300 yards before stopping and saying bye-bye, my guess more nice hoos but never saw them. Just as we were deciding what to do (keep fishing or pullem up)the short inside outrigger gives a tug and Taylor was on it dropping back, he gets the bite and the show is on. His first sail!!! 20 minutes later the fish is released to fight again. We get back to D.I. Marina for the cerimonial swim. Congrats man. Glad to have you onboard today. Action was a little slow at times but there are some quality fish under the trash fish, however we just could not get them all in the box.
Totals for the day:
1 for 5 on Hoos
2 for 3 on Corys
1 for 1 on sails
6 for god knows how many on trash fish
3 chocolate donuts
4 lbs. of smoked Boston Butts
12 pack Budlight not big drinkers today
2 packs of Camel Lights
4 packs of ballyhoo
160 gallons of fuel
Calm ocean
Taylor’s grin from ear to ear (permme grin)

15,
I am not going to argue over the internet but It was
relax kids. Some of the people doing the bashing here didn’t have issue with it until this year. I seem to remember a picture of someone swimming with one last fall that met with approval.
none of these guys bashing you would dare go onto a charter’s picture page and then come back here and slam them on line. That would be taboo.
I guess the noble thing to do, unless you’re going to dry it out, would be to pop it off and not stress the fish. But then again, the chemicals on the bait may kill the fish as well.
I know what happened, This fish was already caught once before and released (after pulling it in the boat for a pic) and Havana found it floating and picked it up (already dead from earlier release) only to say he caught it. So everyone can get off of his case now because the fish was already dead.

Actually, people made fun of him too... That was pretty corny...

I don't recall that post. Some of you computer gurus should dig it up.

Where did he say he was 15 what the hell are you talking about.
My apologies Doc. When 15 ft lover accused him of being green,He immediately wrote 15 then accused him of being a nobody which sounded like something a 15 year old would say,I assumed he was 15.
He took the bait like a jugbelly redfish on an olive and white clouser.
Good questions Capt!
According to the “Resources” link to SCDNR on this site:
Sailfish
Limit: none
Size: 63-inch minimum (FL) (all waters)
Seasons/restrictions: May be taken only by rod and reel and may not be sold.</font id=“red”></font id=“size3”>
The regs are tighter on sharks than sails.

I am thinking this will make it to 5 pages easy.
Where did that document come from? It contradicts SC law or am I missing something? What is the penalty? Who enforces it? Give a case example of a conviction. Nothing against you but this smells like BS.

IF you think it stinks, shoot me an email and I will forward you the original. The fax was from Greg Fairclough at the NMFS. You can call him at 727-551-5741. I recommend everyone does their own research on this.

Other HMS Recreational Limits
The recreational daily swordfish retention limit is 1 fish per person, with a maximum of 4 fish per private vessel, 6 for a charter vessel, and 15 for a headboat vessel. The minimum size for swordfish within the recreational fishery is 47 inches, lower jaw-fork length. You may not keep longbill spearfish. There are no retention limits for Atlantic sailfish, blue marlin and white marlin, but the NOAA Fisheries encourages recreational anglers to release all billfish alive. The minimum sizes for billfish are as follows: Blue Marlin: 99 inches lower jaw fork length; White Marlin: 66 inches lower jaw fork length; Sailfish: 63 inches lower jaw fork length; Spearfish: Retention prohibited. Lower jaw fork length is a straight line measurement from the tip of the lower jaw to the fork of the caudal fin. The recreational limit on sharks is 1 shark per vessel per trip with a minimum size of 54 inches fork length; plus on Atlantic sharpnose shark per person per trip(no minimum size); plus 1 bonnethead hark per person per trip (no minimum size). None of these fish may be sold, and all must be reported.
I hear what you are saying but I find that VERY hard to believe. I will continue to research it. You may be right but I am hard headed and want to see what I can find out.
What is the penalty for taking the fish out of the water? If there is no limit and I really want a picture I need to take him out of the water take my pic, beat the hell out of the fish throw him on the deck and redeploy my spread? That is legal but giving him a chance is not?? Sounds like everyone needs to keep their first sail and bring it home to dry out and feed to the buzzards. Again not against you but a DUMB law. (If it is truly a law and not a suggestion )
