Today’s workout his arms and shoulders.
Some handrails repaired.
A fun day on a Saturday…
I feel ya on the dealer repair costs. My son has a 2006 Vortex Max and the transmission failed. Dealer wanted $8500+ for re man trans +labor. Found another place that said they could do it for $6,000. Found this place on line through and Ebay store. Shipped to a business free or $150 to a residence. 4L70E transmission with a stage 2 build and new torque converter with limited warranty. $1800. Son started on it around 0800 Yesterday and we had it back on the road before 1300 with a few other minor repairs done. I think the stall they recommended is a bit high, but the boy likes it. Oh, and no core charge.
Wow that’s pretty cool. Your wife is obviously a very patient woman. The patterns are a real pain in the @$$ to line up. And a bigger pain to keep from getting back washed.
Even in the picture I feel my eyes chasing the circles.
UVI reactive paint for a black light? Hahaha
That is really nice! Have you seen some of the stick on wall murals and wall paper they are offering these days? My father in law gave me some old cedar that I sanded and clear varnished and the wife found this pic on Amazon. Came in three sections.
The mural and wainscoting really go hand in hand. At first glance the mural looked like a live scene. Looks like Western North Carolina. We’ve got a small place in the mountains, Black Bears like bird seed among other things. Beautiful work.
Thank you Fripp. I’ve watched some others on this site with wood working. I’d love to get more involved with it. Dfreedom posted up some stuff he’s done, really impressive. Then EF had some “burly maple”… beautiful. I see so much wasted wood and think what it could become.
My Brother Mark purchased a one man Mill. He’s retiring the end of this month from PRTC and he’s talking about doing some wood projects. He’s made some neat stuff over the years.
I can gap weld a huge crack or miss cut, but that doesn’t apply to wood working !
I like that that’s super nice.
We used to have a company in back of us. They had a big portaband. They would go all over the country and get reclaimed lumber from Old Mills and stuff like that. They turned out pretty nice stuff.
Good for Mark! My wife’s cousin Ray has a one man mill, but I’m not sure how much he’s been able to do lately.
There’s just something about the beauty of natural finished wood.
Ray Ulmer? Fine man if that’s who you are talking about. He’s catching it rough after his wife’s passing. Josh, his son, works with me. He’s the gentle Giant! Wife calls him her big Marshmallow.
That’s Ray. Yes, he’s had it tough since Sandy passed away last year. Ray’s a super good guy. Josh is an easy going “Gentle Giant”. Nikki’s a trip. They do love each other. I need to catch up with Ray and see how’s he’s doing. I used to go out to his shooting range some. I hadn’t wanted to bother him about going out there since Sandy’s passing. Jenny has helped my wife out a whole bunch in the past too.
If you see Ray, You’ll have to ask him about the time he was sitting in my office across my desk and my Border Collie Roscoe was sitting upright in another chair next to Ray as if he were a person too. Well, Roscoe goes to licking himself where dogs want to lick themselves. I admonished Roscoe for licking himself in front of Uncle Ray, Roscoe looks up, looks at me, then looks over at Ray, who started to laugh. Roscoe turned his head away from both of us and hung his head in ultimate hang dog shame as if he was embarrassed. We both couldn’t stop laughing. Roscoe tried to look up again but hung his head down in shame again.
wish I had a dozen Josh’s. Not anything he wouldn’t do to help me or others. Old boy has that Hidden strength… strong as a Gorilla! If you see Josh call him a big Marshmallow, and say you got it from Kenny. when I have to come to the woods, I alway ask for his help if I need it.
Josh is a super nice guy. I look at Josh and I kinda see him in his Dad Ray when he was younger . And it makes me think about Ray serving in Vietnam in the Army humping a baseplate for an 81mm mortar around in the jungle.
Small World, ain’t it?
I’ll remember Marshmallow Man.
Could you imagine having those cars today in pristine condition rolling through the Barret Jackson auction?
Man I would love to have any one of them just as a daily driver condition.
