Getting it done! Good thing that bote don’t weigh a whole lot
Great job! Looks good.
Slowly trying to update our 22-year-old house. Did our upstairs bath and kitchen last year. Now we’re (I’m) doing the master bath. I forgot the shower pan was concrete. Started questioning tearing out what appeared to be a perfectly good shower until I got the pan up. Now I am so glad I did. Most of the damage is right under the shower so it shouldn’t be too bad to fix before we have the new shower installed.
Id bet the white tile is gonna be a different color this time.
White carpet and tile are a lot of work, huh?
That’s not terrible for 22 years. I’ve seen waaaay worse.
We’re doing a property now that had 25 year old bathrooms. All the sub was rotten so much you couldn’t walk on it. Toilet area too.
Make sure that whoever does the work-Plug the drain and fill it up as much as possible. Leave it for a whole day or two and make sure the water level doesn’t drop.
No tile this time around. We redid our upstairs shower last year. Use used a company called Micalline that makes a “cultured” marble. The guy actually invented the material over 40 years ago. It is crushed natural material (rock, etc?) and a resin. I have neighbors that had their bathrooms done 20+ years ago that still look like new. The pan is a 1-piece custom made from exact measurements. Each wall is a 1-piece panel, so the probability of leaks is very small. It isn’t cheap but it looks great and is very low maintenance.
I got quotes from Re-Bath and Bathe fitters and they were more than twice as much. This product is also much more substantial, 3/8" thick vs 1/8’ acrylic. The biggest downside is that I had to do all the demo and since everything is custom made, it takes about 3 weeks. I am also responsible for any plumbing. They just make/install the shower.
We’re really happy with the one they did last year so we’re looking forward to getting this one done.
Upstairs bath before and after:
And a toilet upgrade! How luxurious!
Did you go Toto?
No, American Standard. I had no idea how much better a chair height toilet really is.
I hate to be that guy, but i had American Standard (Lowes brand) installed 7 years ago. I started having to replace parts at the 5 year mark. Replaced all 3 handles and an internal plastic reservoir thing on two of them meant to help reduce water waste. Finally got sick of them running all the time and replaced all the with Toto brand toilets. They are more expensive, but not by much. If there’s ever sonething that needs to be dependable in this day and age, a man should be able to depend on his toilet operating correctly. It just relieves stress!
FYI, Yours looks like a different style than what I had. Hope you have better luck.
Let’s hope. Had Kholer in the house before and they were good but, the wife liked how this one “looked” so. It did have really good ratings, so I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
New toilets are noisy
I guess its the low flow or water conservation side of regulations now.
Yes, chair height and elongated bowl are “high cotton” in my book nowadays
So far, this one and another we bought have been great, Fast flush/refill and no issues. And you ain’t kidding, high cotton indeed. It kills me to sit on a squatty potty now.
Ever used an actual Squatty Potty? I didn’t hate it…
Well, who knew? Nope, never have. Funny
Completed my first PEX plumbing job this past weekend. Surprisingly easy if you follow instructions. No leaks, which is more than I can say for the “plumber” I hired last year for an almost identical job.
Lookin’ good!
Thank you Sir!
A little bit of care goes a long way. I’ve met some plumbers that could learn a thing or two from you!
With all this bathroom talk I guess I’ll hop in here. This is a rental I’m finishing up hopefully next week. Full gut.
That’s a good lookin bathroom!
