Finished up our kitchen and I’ve been doing some “fun” projects around the house. Still have many more home improvement projects on the horizon.
The kitchen.
A “fun” project. For my oldest son’s birthday. He graduated a couple of years ago from CofC. Don’t tell him, his birthday isn’t until Monday.
That kitchen should have scored some big brownie points with the misses.
I think as of today the number of fatalities is 51 for the year.
Don’t know what the number is on the severe life-changing injuries.
My parts pimp 18-year-old son(run over by 17 year old texting) now 20. Just getting to the point where he can feed himself and use the bathroom on his own…
In the upstate/Greenville motorcycle accidents are up 40% from last year. Just seen that a couple weeks ago on the news up here.

Had taken part of the exhaust off to change the tire. Figure I might as well take it the rest away & open up the cam chest.
From 01-06 the twin cam motors had an inherit problem with the spring loaded chain tensioner.
Very pleased to find the previous owner had upgraded to the hydraulic chain tensioner.
About a $700 upgrade.
Now I can afford to put some cams in it.
Fred. You think I might be running a little lean?

If I’m seeing that, right yes it looks like you should fatten it up a bit. How’s the plugs looking?
Plugs look pretty dry camera won’t focus. I guess what I’m going to do is bite the bullet and buy the cams. Then take it and somebody turn it for me. Was going to put it back together and wait a couple weeks on the cams. But hell it took me an hour and a half to get this jigsaw puzzle of an exhaust system out.

Very Lean, even with the blurry pic.
OTC…what fuel type do run in the bike?
I just run regular 87 octane with no additives or anything. It’s just a 88 cubic inch motor with 8 to 1 compression ratio.
It looks like I need to buy a $300 tuner from Harley. Then give them $100 to download a program into the tuner and and flash the bike…They get you by the nads. That tuner is vin locked to that bike.
Put the bike back together 6 to 8 weeks to get cams. Going to drop it off at the dealer. Not a happy camper.

Is that Ethanol free???
Is the bike EFI( I assume since you talking about tuning the computer) or carb???
Ethanol burns lean in carbs…from what I’ve read.
I’m old school…so advance/retard the spark…since the fuel is :

Any sensor malfunction…performance drops…or stops. But I digress. Interesting discussion hear:
Not as much fun as a monkey riding a motorcycle…
Be safe my man.
There have been many arguments down this rabbit hole. All I can say about running alcohol in an engine is that you need twice the amount to make the same power. Hence when you have a flex fuel vehicle and run E 85 you will notice a couple mile fuel burn drop. Computer injects more fuel to make up for power loss. The Gain was suppose to be the Cheap Price of E 85. It never happened. Also in a straight Alcohol motor, when you rake down on it, it will literally Ice up the intake. Alcohol motors run cooler than gassers. Some Turbo cars actually run an alcohol injection system to help with heat.
Where Alcohol hurts is it’s ability to draw moisture out of the atmosphere into your fuel, not so bad if just a little bit but over time the water gets to much and Phase separation happens. Injectors can not handle pure water and carbs corrode. I’d hate to think the money over the last 20 years ethanol blended fuels have have caused from sitting too long in tanks.
Went by the Harley dealer this morning. Started asking questions about programming the bike. Long story short they can’t do what I need them to do.
They had a bike on the showroom floor that I was kind of interested in.
I asked him to go out and look at my bike and see what they would give me for trade in on it.
They went out come back in and wanted to talk about financing. Told him I do not finance my toys. It would be cash. Asked what is the trade value on my bike. They kept wanting to talk me into financing. And kept wanting me to take a test ride. Couldn’t get a answer on trade in. They kept saying now is a good time to trade. Your bike it is very desirable. Wasn’t home 5 minutes and got a phone call from the sales manager. Telling me that if I had credit issues they had many options and could get me financed. I reminded him that I told his sales guy I pay cash for my toys. Asked again what’s the trade in value on my scooter. Come on back and we’ll talk about it. No thank you. And asked how did you get my phone number. I did not give it to the sales guy, when he asked me for it… he said he recognized the logo on my shirt that he had seen me on my boat before at the boat landing. And got the number off the back of my shirt as I was pulling out of the parking lot.
Never have bought anything from a dealer before. And I’m pretty sure that’s probably not going to happen.
Probably good it worked out like that. I come home on a $25,000 bike. I’ll end up having to buy a wife a new car.
It sure was a nice bike though I think it would do everything except give you sex.

One thing those things CAN give you, a trip to the promised land !
All it takes is for one Gravel Gertie to change lanes without looking, and Wham-O, you’ll be off the chart, and not Off The Chain!
Got my driver’s license at 15 years old. Bought Kawasaki 750 H2. Mom was not happy.
I have always had motorcycles.
I have had 2 accidents.
1 put me through the window into the passenger seat for the car that hit me.
The other totally my fault at over 100mph. Dark, rainy and not enough road. And possibly a few beers…
At the doctor’s office right now. having issues from one of the accidents with my hip. Apparently a plate and some pins are coming loose…
The funny thing is I was looking at that bike because it’s got a lot more hp. The ultra classic is pretty much stock 88 cubic inch motor. The bike I was looking at is 117 cubic inches with stage || kit .Right at 100 HP and about 110 foot pounds of torque.
Try to really look out for all these idiots that have their faces in their phones.
I believe there has been 445 traffic fatality so far this year.
With 58 of them being motorcycles.

No doubt you have to ride defensively and never let your guard down. Today’s drivers on the road are the only reason I haven’t pulled the trigger on an Indian I’ve been eying. That and the wife, we had a close call from an idiot driver and after that she would never ride again.
No kidding, left work little early to go to dermatologist appt. that had been rescheduled twice due to Doc having some Medical issues.
Anyway, sitting in lobby and read this post of yours thinking Dayum!!! SO get called to room and when Doc comes in he is wearing a back brace and not looking to well. He procided to tell me he has been out due to scoliosis, which was apparent. He said it was due to a couple of motorcycle accidents he’s had in the past. Pointed to his right shoe that had some elevation added to it to help square up his pelvis. Looking at me straight on, it was like his body just above the waist was shifted over an inch or more. Didn’t wanna ask, but he said he was 70. He’s the old hippie type for sure, as I’ve been seeing him for years.
Great guy, and Doc. Wish him the best!
EDIT; you two could talk for hours, IMO. He got going on about different bi
There’s a couple manufacturers that have production motorcycles that will break 250 mph.
The majority of the crotch rocket manufacturers have bikes that will break 200 mph…

Attended the road crash assistance trauma class Saturday. Pretty good 8 hour class.
It was sponsored by lovely law offices out of Myrtle Beach. Thumbs up to them at least they’re giving back a little to the community instead of just making dumbass commercials.
They provided lunch and at lunch he give a little 10 minute presentation for his law firm.
1 thing that he brought up that really struck home and he gives several examples. Everybody should have not just uninsured motorist but underinsured motorist also. One day in ICU you will pretty much wipe out South Carolina’s minimum requirement$25,000. Some states only require $15,000
Might want to check into your policies. Got the wife checking on bumping ours up to a half a million dollars on each one.
You have to remember there are a whole lot of people on the roads with notes insurance.

Some people are just total iceholes…
Just happened to see bike 25 minutes after it was posted for sale. I immediately sent the guy a message. Told him that I could be in Anderson Monday morning. Tells me he has busy work schedule can’t meet till midday Wednesday. Tell him I have cash and will pay asking price. I want the bike. Tells me he will message me Wednesday morning… Today crickets… I messaged a couple times. Nada. my phone dinged, he took the post down this afternoon… WTH. Man that really hurt my feelings. I don’t think I would be this disappointed if somebody told me there was not a Santa Claus…
