Got a phone call that I really needed to take. Pulled off the edge of the road.
I guess some people probably got some free entertainment. Me dancing around the bike pulling my pants off. They eat me up… They almost made it to the nether regions. But fortunately not quite…

I hate fire ants!!! No matter how many times I get bit, I still get a puss filled itchy whelp. I was mowing grass Friday and every time I went over a fire ant nest I would stop and let all the little buggers that crawed out get sucked up by the blades. Back up wait a second or two and do it again. Who ever is responsible for introducing Fire ants, Love bugs, Armadillos, coyotes, kudzu, lion fish, Water hyacinth, ect… needs a kick in the crotch.
We put some water hyacinth in our gold fish pond and while it makes a beautiful flower, it has become a terrible menace in our waterways. Last year I could not even fish an area in the Asheepoo due to it. Coming back from Beaufort Yesterday I saw a crap load of it floating in the Combahee.
They were brought over on ships by accident in the early 1900s through the Gulf of Mexico. True story. Native to South America. They will eventually spread over the entire country and there’s no way of stopping them.
I hate fire ants almost as much as mosquitos.

When I was a kid the state of Georgia started a fire ant eradication program. They were flying Air National Guard cargo planes over the whole state and dropping what looked like ground corn cobs. These cobs had been treated with an insecticide the ants were supposed to take back to the mount and feed to the queen dead queen=dead mound. Don’t know if it worked or what happened with the program.
Replaced the brake calipers on the boat trailer a while back. Still have a little air in them.
Seen this bleeder kit at Lowe’s about a month ago and bought it. Figured that would be perfect for the surge brakes. Left it here at the camper and forgot about it . Was going to put it in the truck so I would not forget it. Back brakes on the ultra classic a little spongy. Figured I’d give it a try…
Picture on the box shows the hose all kinked up. Should have known better.
Tried a heat gun and tried hot water. Neither work…

OTC, those one man bleeder kits are get what you pay for. Get a good one and you will be very happy with it. Really work well on hyd clutches that are a pain to bleed. If I remember I’ll take a pic of the air bleeder I use. Works good for bleeding some diesel fuel systems as well.
I’ve used set ups like like that a few times in the past, when I had no other choice. Unfortunately with some of the newer braking systems no matter how much you pump and pump if the system is dry you’ll never get it unless you have something like this. It has been invaluable working on side by sides and the dual braking system we use on the race car and now asphalt truck. Biggest issue is making sure you keep the reservoir full. On the Newer Paccar Diesels after servicing the fuel system, you can pump for a long time or just hook up this rascal and be done in no time. Time is money … sometimes. Besides, I’m getting were I enjoy some modern tools.
There are other brands out there OTC, just need an air source. Works like a dream. Specially on Hyd. clutches.
Fred. you’re right you definitely get what you pay for. Craftsman sure is not what it used to be. Supposedly they still manufacture their tools in fort Mill S C. But they stay with global parts. China… Went by H-D dealership today. They do not sell the o-rings for the quick connect. You have to buy the whole thing.$65 for the male side.$70 for the female. Of course not in stock. So I asked the parts guy. How about 1 of them jap made master cylinder kit for 06 ultra classic. Said he had 1. went back to get it. The guy behind me started to give me a rash of crap. Harley’s are AMERICAN MADE… I have had this argument many times. Slapped a $100 bill on the counter. bet me. All I got is $40. 100 to your 40. Okay bet.
Instead of $61 it only cost me $21

LOL. Nothing much is totally made in America anymore. You mentioned going to Sturgis in a previous post and now this about Harley not being a fully American bike anymore. I had a similar bet years ago. I never got my money though. Harley Davidson hurt a lot of die hard Fans/riders feelings when the truth came out. I think it was early 90’s when they quit burning a Jap bike on the big bon fire in Sturgis.
Not a lot of tools made in America now either. Many Snap-On, Mac, Matco are outsourcing manufactures. Just got a set of SnapOn Thumb Wrenches and … Made in Spain. Most every thing labeled “Blue Point” from Snap-On is Non- American. Was a time when Craftsman would rival any tool vender, not anymore. What I’ve experienced in top level Precision tooling… German made is the go to.
Man I forgot all about the rice burnings… I think you right it was probably early '90s when everyone quit doing that. Also had the Japanese bike pinata. Hang it from a tree pay a buck or 2 take a swing at it with a sledgehammer. It would have silver dollars& tokens for free beer and food that you would try to knock loose from it. It probably hurt somebody’s feelings the reason that come to a stop.
Things have definitely changed over the years. As everything else it’s all about the dollar now. All the vendors now are the big commercial guys with their 18 wheelers. No more old mom and pops out there selling used parts out of the back of their pickup. Myrtle Beach shut that down years ago imposing a $500 vendor license.
The vast majority of the folks at the rallies now are also just weekend warriors. Riding a $40,000 bike that they might put 500 miles a year on it. I think this year we’re going to try to go to Arkansas in May for a rally. First annual rumble in the hills.

Ended up finding the female quick connect at the local Mom and pops shop. Aftermarket 40 bucks compared to Harley $70 something. All over a tapered o-ring. 50 cent’s worth of o rings what a bunch of bull. Harley bills 2 hours to do the repair. No book could not find a video I did it in less than 2 hours.
Debating on whether to keep the bike or not. Thinking about selling and maybe buying an old panhead. Maybe even a chopper.

Bought this one to flip. Paid a little more than I probably should have. But I kind of felt sorry for them.
It has transmission issues. Pull it out and see if I can fix it. I’ve never been inside of a transmission before. But I figured between the book and Google.

Can’t say I’ve been in a Harley Transmission either. Just nuts and bolts, take plenty of pics as you disassemble. I want to see a video of you kick starting it when you get it running. I’m sure I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know, but don’t wear tennis shoes and kick it over…
All those bikes yours? getting a pretty good collection.
I haven’t kicked a bike in a long time. The bikes got a open primary right now I’ve got a starter and an inner primary to go on it. The clutch hub that’s in it has a starter gear . I plan on flipping that 1 & the Sportster . I’ve been wanting a panhead for a while. I kind of want a chopper. Wife says we’re getting too old for a chopper. Never had a chopper.
There’s a real nice 1954 in murrells inlet. .$27,000 though.
I keep telling the wife that would be a good investment.

Too bad the other car got involved. But fortunately the guy didn’t get hurt. 70 something year old man. Said he was a little sore. 3 - 4 year old video I stumbled back across it again today. https://youtu.be/pO_FOdRBQEw
