HMMMM??? Maybe she mapped Tel,s spot! Nothing worse than going to your favorite spot and having it occupied. That bay and refuge could hold more shrimpers than could possibly park at all the ramps...Hey Tel maybe if they bait enough they will grow faster.

We can only hope Doug…:stuck_out_tongue:

All I ever read about on here are areas around the harbor and bulls bay…anyone shrimp the Folly River area? I am going to try my luck (first time) next week (I fish/crab over there so I am familiar with the sand bar issues).

^^ Deer Hunter…there are several good places on Folly… where you gonna put in?

Drop at the Folly landing. I have a buddy from Rock Hill that has been asking to go for years so I finally agreed…thought we would take our sons out in the AM to fish/crab the early low tide. While out there, we’ll scout some areas to shrimp the PM low tide (no young ones on board for that)

We have tried the folly many times…lots of very small shrimp…with a few medium mixed in…if you go towards bird key…folly county park end…make sure you have a extra line tied to your cast net line and tie it off…sharks are pretty bad even in 4-5 foot of water…I was tossing along the beach the other day and had a bonnet head tear out in front of me ;(. Hd my line tied off…

Will do! Thanks for the advice! We catch those bonnets all the time but I certainly do not want one in my cast net!

I have read through the threads and received great advise on poles, bait, and locations. Does anyone have any advise on lights for night shrimping? I have a 155 cc Scout and plan to use 3 clamp lights connected to my battery (I have three 75watt bulbs that West Marine sold me). Any advise and/or pictures would be greatly appreciated.

I made a light bar from two cheapo fog lights from Walmart connected by alligator clamps to the battery and controlled by individual rocker switches. It mounts on the bar above the center console. It works good for navigating in the dark and for collecting the shrimp. We don’t run it all the time, it’s a little rough on the battery.

You’re missing the point toppy, maybe it’s over your head. I was anchored up today, and here comes a big bow rider almost swamping my boat. Who does this? Maybe it is morons from out of town scouring the intenet looking for places to shrimp. I tell my friends and family where I am catching shrimp, but I would never post it on the internet. When you have been doing this, hunting, fishing, gigging, diving, long enough, maybe you will understand. You tell one person and he will tell three more…Until three years ago my family had a boat landing on the water way, now I have to use public landings, and trucks are parked out to the road. Thirty years ago we could have our cooler in thirty to fourty five minutes, what happened? Oh, I know, instead of three boats on the bay, now you have three hundred. So by all means, keep spreading the word.

Oh yeah, because every moron in a boat is from out of town. Man, you are a real piece of work. Why don’t you start your own fishing website and then you can share info with yourself since the rest of us aren’t worthy. It is YOU that is missing the point. I feel sorry for you. And yes, I know, you didn’t ask me to but, this one’s on me.

pm sent.

Of this whole page, there was one actual report. Let’s see some reports people!

Deerhunter, Do some research on LED lights. They are a bit pricey but they put out a lot of light and are easy on the battery.

There is much truth in some of these posts. I will leave it to y’all to decipher where the truth lies and where it ends. Remember, opinions are everyone’s right.

Deer hunter all you need is 1 50 watt light to cast, see poles, and sort. Never run white lights while running. It screws up your night vision!

fish today work tomorrow

Great info! Thanks! I would have looked like a bright-light semi on 26 with all the lights I had planned…will check out the leds and scale back on the spots!
