Fished the Tire Reef on Wednesday the 22nd. Tons of Spades all around the boat the entire time. BIG ones! School of 100 fish or so. Seeing a fair amount of jellyballs while catching bait inshore but not a whole lot like other years thus far.

Just pet those big tigers and hammerheads on the nose or hammers…they’ll swim away

I definitely wont be jumping in and swimming around…we caught this fella yesterday on another spadefish attempt. No spades, could not find enough jellyballs

Did you try my cellophane trick?

Shark looks like a thresher from what I can see of it. Fun catch! It wouldn’t keep me out of the water

I didn’t try the cellophane, we looked for jellyballs on the way out but couldn’t find enough to even make a stringer to bring them to the boat. And the water didn’t lay down enough to see them on top while we were there.

I will have a spadefish report one day…maybe…

Have often wondered what a day would be like on a shrimp boat?

Once is cool, twice is ok, three times and you’ll probably have your fill. My last trip was about 2 years ago and I brought home 50 sand dollars, a few starfish, some blue crab, and 75 lbs of shrimp. I guess the sad thing is all the by-catch, once it didn’t bother me. Now I guess I see the nets as big disc harrows destroying any inshore live bottom.

It’s the downside of shrimping. It sucks really. It’s the biggest reason for the decline of the ARS in the gulf. I wish more could be done.
