Yeah but you soaked it in shrimp slime first… It’s almost not fair.
It stood to reason that any coach – not that there are any quite like Spurrier – who flaunted winning would be hypersensitive to losing. Sure enough, the two times things didn’t go Spurrier’s way, he did what coaches are forever urging their players never to do: He quit. He bailed after two losing seasons with the Washington Redskins. Now he’s gone after six games, four of them losses. As long as he was winning and strutting, coaching was a gas. When it became clear he couldn’t win/strut, he’d head for the beach.
Yeah, Bowden “quit” and the University paid him $3.8million to do it. That’s called being fired.

Again, when you get a $3.8 million buyout, you got fired. You can use whatever terminology you want, your ass got canned. Forced to resign, stepped down, told your services were not needed, severance pay, etc. You got fired.
Which is completely different but no less embarrassing that walking out and quitting mid-season because you were losing.

Basically salty knows that in the end this could be bad for his ball club. He won’t admit when he is wrong and if he does it will be with a short sentence and then nothing else about it.

Bowden may have resigned, however it was that or get fired. Bowden was not the only one “let go” at that same time, Rob Spence, the offensive coordinator also left. I guess they both thought it best for the team and both quit for the greater good of the program - I think not.
SOS was indeed a great coach, but he was also a graceless winner and a terrible loser.
