Table saw or skilsaw cuts pvc best. Scroll saw or jigsaw tends to be very slow if you don’t want it to melt and restick to itself behind the blade. Very easy to cut through- but it heats up and melts to itself quick. Router does well with it also.
Got the outer shell of the box made.
Test fit
Going to make dividers for tackle and tool holders inside and out next.
Very cool Wes, I’d love to come take a look at it in person and lend a hand if you need it. I’ve been thinking about doing the same thing! might take a bit longer as the money starts coming in but one day for sure.
Somebody told us Wall Street fell but we were so poor we couldn’t tell. Cotton was short and the weeds were tall but Mr. Obama gonna save us all

Scootin, that is the axle for the leader spools to spin on.
GW, you are right. I have plans for a bait/tool/rigging table and cooler slide under the leaning post too. Will have my yard completely mulched with white PVC snow before it’s over with.
About the time I get it looking like a legit shallow water grouper catching machine they’ll make it all illegal probably.
Don’t have the tackle boxes in this pic, but they go on the port side.
Changing the aft spreader lights over to LED by gluing the guts of some LED driving lights into the fixtures. Coated the PCB boards with dielectric grease to prevent corrosion. Didn’t get pics of the finished lights because it got dark.
where have you been getting all the different thickness and sizes of the pvc board? I’ve only ever found 1/4" thick sheets at west marine and they were expensive!
PVC board is different from what’s in west marine. That’s star board or sea board a.k.a. HDPE in west marine, and it is expensive anywhere. Plastic suppliers can sell it for about 60% of what WM sells it for though. The black flush panel in my e box is star board.
PVC is a lot less dense and lighter that star board / sea board. That’s the white stuff that I made the leaning post storage out of. PVC is okay for stuff out of the sun and elements on the boat, but it can hold up fine as it’s made for exterior use on houses, etc… It is in Lowes where the exterior trim is. For different thicknesses, you have to go to a plastics supplier. There is a place in Columbia on Shop Rd. I have gotten stuff from before. In Charleston you can get it from a supplier or a sign shop if you need sheets or something other than what’s in Lowes.
The thin stuff I made the speaker backing rings out of is FRP (fiberglass reinforced panel)- also in Lowes. It is used in bathrooms for tub surrounds, etc. It comes in 4x8’ sheets.
