Date: 3-23-2019
Time: 9:00am
Where:Folly Beach SC (pavement leading to the lighthouse area)
What do i need to bring?: fishing license, rod, bait, reel and anything else that you use to fish and stay comfortable.
If you are an experienced surf fisherman or a beginner, this will be a great time to come learn and share your knowledge to others that love our sport. Some of the things that we will be able to help with are reading the beach, making rigs, equipment selection, lure selection, bait selection, distance casting and hopefully catching fish.
If you have any questions, feel free to post her or you can send me an email.

I plan on staying for at least 4 hours. If the weather is crappy, we can change it to another day.

Then we will have a lot to talk about, I’m a transplant too.
I can’t make it, I have to work on this Saturday. Would anyone be willing to do another date for us that can’t make it?

I will be fishing Charleston area al lot this year. Hate that you can’t make it, but I’m sure there will be plenty of opportunities to meet this year. I would love to host a surf fishing tournament this year.
Yes, just happens i was asked to work on this day. I would like to meet as many people as possible so hopefully we can do another meet up.
DHill there is a great read regarding surf fishing in the inshore forum. Find winter sheep habbits. Look under Barbawang’s post that has 3 links. Click on the second one regarding reds. Page 22 surf fishing. Very good stuff.
My son and I will be there
Hey guys. We will meet at this location first. If we need to move down the beach, we will do so. Hope you guys can make it!

Just a heads up. Hightide is like 10:30 AM and the tidal coefficient is like 90 to 100. There is not a lot of front beach left at hightide from there to the lighthouse inlet, especially on big tides. The current can be strong too since its close to the inlet. It should be a good bite though coming off the spring super moon tides. The whole drum family should be biting.

I appreciate the info, sir. Locals...any recommendations on another area that could accommodate around 20 people? I’m traveling from myrtle beach, so I’m fine with another location if you guys want to switch.
We can take the pavement route, but if 40 is correct and we have no beach only time can fix that problem if we fish the light house end. What does the beach look like if we don’t go left towards the light house and go right? Will there be enough beach that way to work? By the time we talk for a while we would be traveling right around high tide which would be an issue with the big tide. This is where those back packs are useful. It ain’t no fun dragging a loaded surf cart, rods and reels through waist deep water for any period of time. Waves hit you broad side and it turns into a mess real quick. I’ve had reels get swamped doing just this, and they locked up on me a month later. Swimming in March is not a whole lot of fun either. The only options we have are to start later letting the tide recede, go to another beach or area more accessible, or postpone the trip to next Saturday in which low tide is around 1030 which would be perfect to make that haul. It would also give us the opportunity to read the beach at low and identify productive areas to fish. Stevo whats the word any beach left at high tide during big tides down by the light house end??? We have a good size crowd and need more than a pocket or two to accommodate all the people. What do y’all think??? Thank you 40.
If we don’t have enough beach to accommodate everyone, that will defeat the purpose of our meeting. If conditions are not good for this weekend, I can come next weekend. hopefully Stevo will chime in soon.
I think easiest solution would be a time shift. There is a small bit of sand that always stays dry by the wall by the light house. I cant upload a picture for some reason. Most the beach on this end gets water all the way to thw houses at high tide.
What about Sullivan’s island?
I was thinking more in this area,
