Are you guys fishing down the paved road at the very end towards the lighthouse?

I will not be…
Just as you enter the cul-de-sac, there is a path down to the beach. I am going to set-up just south of the “wood” wall right from the path.
unfortunately I need to back out at the last minute as well. Looks like you should have a decent showing though. I will have to try and catch the next one
Dparker okay good cause my big cart won’t fit through that small gate entrance down the paved path.
I have work until 1:30-2. Would you guys still be out there?
Cul de sac 9am. See you guys.
Anyone catch anything? I sure didn’t lol.
Absolutely dead out there. We had 8 people with around 20-25 rods out. The only thing that was landed was a big cow nose ray, 2 whiting, and one small ray amongst the whole crew. Fished 9:30-3:00. Before hitting the beach we talked amongst the people that were there that it was a strong chance it was going to be slow and it sure as chit was. Fortunately the tide was not an issue and we were able to get right to it. On a positive note is was beautiful out, and was great to meet a few new faces. Saw a few other people fishing and never saw them catch anything. After the tide pulled out it revealed some good structure in between some of the rock groins saw a nice sand bar and good trough, but no fish were hitting in that area. Harry and I had been working the area the whole time. March fishing at it’s finest. It wasn’t fall Either it was an off day or we were to early in the season. If you look back at the history on this site not a whole lot of reds have come from that area during March. Either people are not posting them or they are difficult to find this early in the season in that area. We had some good guys working. I think only one person was new to surf fishing. Mr. Parker and I will be trying a different spot on Monday. It’s a different type of area and we will see if we get a different result. Yuse guys take care and hope to get out with some of you down the road.
Welcome to Folly.
We tried 40. It was allot of fun and cool to meet the fellow CF folks. Good to get out. We’ll put together another trip down the road. I would love to fish with you and Stevo as well. I think plenty to be learned from you both. I betcha Fall at night could potentially reveal some good fish. Y’all have a good weekend:smiley:
I couldn’t fish my usual spots by the last wall the waves were smashing into it
I was looking at the structure from the dunes right before I left and we were fishing what looked like a great spot(deeper hole surrounded by a sandbar), but there was a cut right on the other side of that bar about 40 yards down the beach. Wish I would have noticed it earlier and possibly tried it out. Not sure if it would have made a difference though. There has to be fish in the surf to catch them.
Hey Pete. Enjoyed the day and thanks for organizing the get together and the tips. Next time hopefully the fish will be there.
Folly is flat in front for 500yds and both inlets have sand washed out in front so its extra shallow, more current and choppy. Front beach is about 3ft deep for every 100yds, 300yds is about 9ft and 400yds is about 12ft. Just a steady flat sand decline to about 16ft. Both inlets have a channel, the park end is about 4ft average at low in the channel and the lighthouse end is about 8 to 12 in the channel at low. All the best fishing ive had at folly is structure oriented not troughs. I know all the spots down there. There is basically 7 spots and 5 are structure so you have to be in that 10ft radius or you wont do much. The others are the front beach channel and inlet channel.
I enjoyed the meeting and it was great time to meet.
Thank you guys, especially, thanks to Pete and James!

Sorry I couldn’t make it I haven’t had time to get my fishing gear out for the year yet I just moved into my first house a few months ago. I went out that morning of the meet up to try and move my pier cart onto my trailer hitch and the thing would not move. Come to find out the shaft for the wheels had rusted a bit and it was binding up near the motor. So I had to take it apart and sand the rod down smooth and oil it. At that point I was to furious to make my way out there so late. I’m sure I will see many of you out there this year come by and see me if you need any help or bait I usually have plenty.
Y’all should plan a fall since fishing will be good
